Got to give him a crisp fist pump after each session on the track, super proud of the kid. Was planing on racing Futures this year, came out for a try out a lil over threee weeks ago, moved to the other side of the country, and made his first main. Not far off a top ten too.
Nice!! Yup, he was looking good out there. The heat kind of scared me with Bourdon making him go to the lcq, but he belonged out there and didn’t look out of sorts at all. I know you’ve been pushing for the kid so thought I’d give the shoutout!!
If only the factories would have listened.
GJ! 😀
Chatted very briefly with his parents at the airport. Very nice people, and I'm rooting for him!

Looking forward to seeing him and Drew Adams go at it..
Minnesota, lets go!
No way man..... it makes WAY more sense to hire Jordon Smith or Cameron McAdoo so that they can crash themselves out of contention for the 15th year in a row.
What a ride for Avery with very little time on the new bike coming from a Yamaha to a KTM. I was hoping they would have showed something with him on the broadcast for his debut but I don't think they showed him at all.
The booth seemed caught off guard a bit by his performance. Obviously the bikes are good.
How tall is he? He looked like a big guy to me.
He definitely has the mass for a 450.
I get what you're saying but Smith got Triumph their first SX podium in front of the big bosses on Saturday, maybe not the best example.
He will get a top 10 in SX this year for sure.
He looked so good i put him on my fantasy and im picky with that lol. Very impressive
His family are some of the nicest people I've met.
He was a guest coach at a class my kid did once. I thought he looked about 6'3? I never stood directly next to him.
They mentioned him a few times. In the heat when Bourdon took him out in the last corner for the transfer spot, the lcq, and I think they mentioned his 12th and being a rookie in the main.
I hope he has a good year and happy he got a good ride. AEO KTM is solid and has a competitive bike. How long has he had on the new bike? I know he was signed fairly recently so to come out of A1 just outside the top 10 is pretty good all things considered.
I’m a fan too simply since my daughter is named Avery as well.
Pit Row
Fair.
He also crashed on Saturday though. Coulda maybe been 1 or 2 spots higher if he hadn't, which is basically the story of his career.
Jeremy is happy this week
Just under four weeks. Basically flew out in early December for a multi-day try out. Got the spot, then went to work.
Self proclaimed leader of the Avery Long fan club and can attest to him and his family being the greatest.
If I'm a team owner I don't hire him over McAdoo or Jordon Smith though. Those guys are race winners and Avery I believe will get there, but he isn't yet.
AEO is a perfect fit. Solid equipment and support team and lower spotlight/pressure.
Stoked for the attention he's earning.
And yes, he is incredible on a 450 and his resume definitely shows he won't have a problem with the transition. Going up early like a Bloss or the direction Marchbanks previously was headed wouldn't be a bad move, but I also think he has a lot to show on the 250 still too.
AEO has thrown a guy on a 450 in the summer, maybe they do the same with Long?
Not this year, they want to focus on 250s this summer.
...that was a one time deal with DK, he was getting too heavy for the 250.
