Next September, in America, we have the distinct OPPORTUNITY to align the stars and
have those AMA/ FIM combined contests - that, we all genuinely want to witness.
September 11, 2011 the Youthstream GP is scheduled for Glen & Helen's place,
with another USGP penciled in for the following weekend.
This COULD be the TRANS-AMA / Fall Classic/ End-to-all-intercontinental bragging
rights mx contest we ALL DESIRE.
Will it happen ? Oh hell - to-the -no.
Money, politics, power, allegiances, what-have-you, will be the whoops that disable
this tremendous opportunity for motocross fans the world over.
I'm now publicly calling on MX SPORTS and YOUTHSTREAM to shake glands,
put aside differences and make it happen.
For the sport of motocross. Nothing less.
The Grand Prix in Glen Helen is scheduled on the second weekend of September due to a gentlemen's agreement between Youthstream, AMA and the AMA Nationals Promoter (MX Sports). This gentlemen's agreement stated that the GP events in the USA would be organized after the AMA Nationals finished (and that traditionally happens on the first weekend of September).
As the provisional FIM Motocross World Championship calendar shows, Youthstream has fully respected their agreement but feels free to change the USGP schedule in case the agreement is not respected by the other two parties.
" Gentlemen's agreement "
Always loved that phrase.
