Has anyone used the new A Star Tech Air off road body armour in an MX situation?

I heard read was testing something for MX not sure if this is it? It says one of the settings can detect a g out without a crash and not deploy but would this be effecting in a motocross situation or would it deploy on a hard landing?

I would sure think that most "weekend warrior" MX dudes would be just fine wearing it with whatever algorithm they have it set at for the Rally/Dakar guys. Right?

I think it is more of a trail/dual sport/Adventure bike  item.   I  have heard they were/are testing one for MX.  The dealer program for the Air  stuff requires some more approvals/training before I can sell them. So maybe find a dealer that is an official Tech Air   dealer and ask them.

The modes they have set on it are Enduro, Rally and Street.  If You end up trying one on a MX track, come back and let us know how it works out and what  type of riding You do in it.  If You tend to have a lot of small crashes , it might not be a great idea . But If You tend to be the type of guy who almost never crashes , rides super smooth, it might be more likely to work well for you. But I do not know a lot about them. Since our customer base is 98% MX style riding, I have not looked into them too much.

Thanks for the solid feedback.

I’m a para rider so I’m strapped in, while I don’t crash much at all. A bigger crash will mean the weight of the bike might contribute to the impact, but being seated means the g forces on jump landings can be quite high.

If its anything like the stuff used for on track all the data gets sent to alpinestars and the algorithm would develop for the crashes weekend warriors would have.

Although the tech air 10 has had some serious problems so I'm not sure how much I trust alpinestars to develop something that works straight off the bat.

Alpinestar told me don't use the air tech off road protection for motocross. I bought it for MX. I asked them what setting to use. They said trail use only no MX. Should I return it? Or use it for MX? I'm old 52 and had a painful impact crash and bought this so I can continue riding. I barely walked away from last crash so I need this air tech help.

You can definitely use it for MX if you’re a normal person. If you’re scrubbing the hell out of jumps it might go off but normal jumping is fine. This is direct from someone involved in tech air at astars. Just watch some footage of Dakar and those dudes absolutely send it off dunes etc.
