I know many of you believe Loretta Lynn's should be reserved for youth and/or non-C class racers, but I got into racing motocross later in life and identify as a 33 year-old C rider. Obviously ChatGPT is not a reliable source for the latest AMA rules, so I'm hoping someone here can provide more guidance: can I race both 450 C and Vet (30+) Sportsman next year with my 2021 KTM 450 SX-F (has an FMF pipe)?

ChatGPT gave me mixed answers:

1. "You can only compete in one class per bike size, which means you couldn’t race both 450 C and Vet (30+) classes with the same bike size (450cc)." This sounds inaccurate because I know the AMA allows riders to compete in both a "modified" class (like 250 Cool and a "limited" class (like 250 B Limited) within the same displacement.

2. "The 450 C class requires a stock bike with minimal modifications, so your modified 450cc bike would not be eligible. The 450 C class is for beginner-level riders with stock 450cc machines to keep the competition fair." This sounds inaccurate because the class name does not distinguish between "Limited" like it does for 250 C and 250 C Limited, or 450 B and 450 B Limited.

Bottomline, can I race both classes next year? Do I need to put the stock exhaust back on?

As long as you’re racing the regular 450c you’re fine. If you’re going to race the limited class you have to run a stock exhaust. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’ve never heard that about the 450c class being “limited” without the name designation and can’t see a reason why you wouldn’t be able to ride the same bike in an age class and displacement class. Call the AMA/MXsports if you’re unsure, not chatGPT.

I don't know anything about LL's, but I'd be cautious about trusting ChatGPT for something that niche.

You can race both classes with your current bike.  You will only have to change your bike back to stock for the limited classes.

You just used the wrong prompt. But without bothering. What’s the issue?  Oh you might be considered picking on the kids?  At chicken licks the only question would be if your over 30 and the kids would smoke you

Chat GPT clearly doesn't know the difference between "beginner-level" riders and Novice (C) riders.
