Taxi driver kills 12, wounds 25 in England

SEASCALE, England – A taxi driver fatally shot 12 people and wounded 25 others Wednesday while driving his vehicle across a tranquil stretch of northwest England, before apparently killing himself.
It was Britain's deadliest mass shooting since 1996, and it jolted a country where handguns are banned and multiple shootings rare.
The body of the driver, Derrick Bird, 52, was found in woods near Boot, a hamlet popular with hikers and vacationers in England's scenic Lake District. Police said two weapons were recovered.
Three of the injured were in critical condition and five more were in serious condition at West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven, chief executive Kevin Clarkson said. Others injured were taken to hospitals in Carlisle and Newcastle.
Queen Elizabeth II, who rarely issues public statements responding to the news, said she shared in "the grief and horror of the whole country" and extended her sympathy to the families of the victims.
Police said it was too early to say what the killer's motive was, or whether the shootings had been random. Some reports said Bird had quarreled with fellow cabdrivers the night before.
Peter Leder, a taxi driver who knew Bird, said he had seen Bird on Tuesday and didn't notice anything amiss. But he was struck by Bird's departing words.
"When he left, he said, 'See you, Peter, but I won't see you again,' " Leder told Channel 4 News.
Local media reports described Bird, who lived in the village of Rowrah, as a divorced father of two.
The first shootings were reported in the coastal town of Whitehaven. Witnesses said the dead there included two of Bird's fellow cabbies.
Police warned residents to stay indoors as they tracked the gunman's progress across the county of Cumbria. Witnesses described seeing the gunman shooting from the window of his car with a shotgun or rifle.
Victims died in Seascale and Egremont, near Whitehaven, and in Gosforth, where a farmer's son was shot dead in a field.
Workers at the nearby Sellafield nuclear processing plant were ordered to stay inside while the gunman was on the loose.
Police Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Hyde said there were 30 crime scenes. Many bodies remained on the ground late Wednesday, covered with sheets, awaiting the region's overstretched force of forensic officers.
Deadly shootings are rare in Britain, where gun ownership is tightly restricted. In recent years, there have been fewer than 100 gun murders annually across the country.

2. Most people who carry can and will shoot you.
3. There is no way to accurately answer this.
4. I think a bunch of folks would rather shoot than be shot.
5. Since you actually don't have any facts and are spewing bullshit, come to Alabama and test your theory on me, see what happens.

Did you see videos on every last law enforcement related shooting? Where do "trained soldier" defensive handgun videos come from? Does youtube and The A-Team count as "research"?
In general, you take cover when being shot at. Everybody knows people can't shoot worth a fvck when they are dodging bullets.
I'd wager that the average gun carrying citizen is more skilled with a weapon than the average cop.
Pandora's box is open in the US. Guns exist. It's not going to change any time soon.
