Anyone have a set of plain silver billet triple clamps laying around that will work for a 2004 YZ250? I recently swapped over the suspension from my 2024 YZ250 onto my newly purchased 2004 YZ250 before I even rode it just to see if the steel frame is everything the internet hype made it out to be.
Long story short, this 2004 YZ250 is my all time favorite bike and I doubt I'll ride another bike for a long time. It is my favorite bike of all time. What was meant to be a spare bike/tinker bike has turned out to be my main steed.
That being said, I would love to find some silver billet triple clamps to spruce it up a bit. The bike is sitting on SSS forks, and the rear shock from the 2024 as well. Nobody has noticed at the track yet, but the bike is also sitting on Silver/Silver wheels from Dubya. I am a big fan of subtleties.
Any new yz250 clamps will work on the steel frame yz250. I put 2010 clamps on my 02. I put 2 bolts in the bottom of the clamps for number plate studs so I could keep the 02-05 fender/ number plate
Awesome! Thank you, did you have to do anything to the steering stops?
Nope everything is the same
I suggest beefing up the steering stop.
If you tip over, the thin steering stop on the old steel frames will bend and also it can damage the interface area on the clamp.
A few years back I posted some photos and a quick drawing with dimensions on how I've done this modification.
