His entrance into the pro ranks should be the benchmark for all up and coming amateurs. They work hard, have earned all they help they've been given and are humble in doing so. No psycho "mini dad" stories coming from these guys, no hype and promises of "top 5" and all the shit that happens these days. Tomac and crew have a lot to be proud of.

I know Eli has been on the radar for a long time, but this has got to the most shocking rookie debut ever.

We knew Stewart and Carmichael were gonna be fast...but the consensus on Tomac was that he'd be a solid top 10 top 5 guy.

Unreal.

Super impressed and extremely entertained by his riding today. Not a chance of him backing down as it's obvious that he isn't afraid of anyone out there right now. He's creative in his line choices and watching him in the first moto had me saying out loud : "GEEZ!! He NEVER follows"...watch closely, if he doesn't have to, he finds alternatives. Great riding. Viva los GEICOS!! Pretty cool that he's wearing the right brand too! Yet another impressive addition to the Morgan Hill family.

To me it is not too surprising to see this happen for him today. All his prep was geared toward hitting the ground running at Hangtown. The rest of field seems to use round one to get things sorted out and up to speed after SX. Last year Barcia was on fire at round 1 and slipped a bit when every one else got into full swing. If Eli can keep this up in the weeks to come it will be even more impressive.

Is he the 3rd rookie to win in his rookie debut? Stewart did it 02 and Langston did it in 2000. Any others?

All the hype about Barcia last year and this kid comes out and wins in the first race. Amazing.

Stewart was already racing pro in Supercross in 125/250f/Lites, Bayle was a world champion before coming to the U.S. Only two racers that I know of that won their true debut first race. Marty Tripes in 1972 at the Superbowl of Motocross in L.A. and now Eli Tomac in 2010 in his first ever Pro race.

One thing came to my mind last night "Oh shit... We're not going to win MXdN again, and this for a long time..."

I've been totally impressed by the young guy. Congrats Eli, first win but not last for sure...

Can't wait for the rest of the season and really looking forward to see how Pourcel will react to that.

Anyone who saw Tomac at LL's last year shouldn't be surprised.

He raced with an intensity you do not typically see, racing every lap like it's the first lap, no "coasting" and no "taking it easy."

He was WFO from wire to wire, and not only that he was in total control while doing it.

and as said above, no drama or psycho-Dad bullshit in the Tomac camp.

They're all business

He's a disciplined kid

and I said at LL's, he hadn't peaked yet, and likely still hasn't
