strong>The online feed from the AMA outdoor Nationals opener at Hangtown left plenty to be desired this evening.

From the word go there was an absence of sound – one wisecracker on facebook reckoned "they're on electric bikes" and another commented when they left the action for a trackside interview "that was the smartest Villy has ever sounded" – and regular reboots were necessary to stay with the race even before the image froze and tranmission broke down completely halfway through the first 450 moto.

With the first ten running the same order when it eventually came back nobody missed much, indeed the last lap and a half was all there was to excite as Josh Grant slammed Mike Alessi for third and rode around Davy Millsaps for second.

Polesetter Chad Reed controlled the race from the front and Brett Metcalfe had a resounding 450 debut in 5th despite running off track late on. Ben Townley in 6th and Ken De Dycker, 8th on a stock YZ450F after starting just outside the top ten, made it four foreigners in the first eight.

Steven Clarke had made a tremendous gate, well inside the top ten, only to cast it away entering turn two; the incident also cost Ryan Dungey as he was forced wide and had to race from 30th to break into the top ten late on.

Allisports finally managed some sound for the podium chats, for what they were worth (Millsaps ! Grant !), though they appeared to be off-camera sound as they didn't match Erin Whateverhernameis on screen.

It was back to splendid silence for the 250 race, but Cri Pourcel, fastest by two and a half seconds in quali, did his own talking as he moved quickly past Trey Canard and seemed set to dominate, just as Reed had done.

Tommy Searle moved up to second when Canard made a mistake, but had to withstand huge pressure from Eli Tomac, the rookie finally going through on 23 minutes and inheriting the lead when Pourcel did the unthinkable, a mistake dropping him to third.

Tomac looked safe until he toppled over in a turn with three to go and suddenly Tommy was in front and defying everything Pourcel could throw at him ... until a quarter of a lap from home. The Frenchman found room where there was none on the side of a jump to go through for a sensational win.

Dean Wilson spun out on of 4th on lap one and had to recover from 15th to 10th behind Jake Weimer, Justin Barcia, Blake Baggett, Canard, Tyla Rattray and Blake Wharton. Max Anstie came home 12th and Matiss Karro was as high as 18th before going out.

The action was fast and furious on a pretty unselective track where even fast men struggled to make passes stick with any regularity, but the promoters sure need to get their act together on the live feed. Wonder if we'll find out who won race two in the morning ?

Look up inept in the dictionary and there should be a pic of Hangtown 2010 AMA Motocross Nationals. What a bummer. These clowns putting on the races are a joke.

It would be hilarious if it WAS your sport, other than that it`s only disgraceful and a technological wonder..but someone made money off of it, that`s all that matters there...right?
