So I just picked up a 2002 cr250 and the guy swapped the TMX carb for the PWK. I put a new throttle tube (and new 02 cr250 throttle cable) on and I can get it to open the slide and snap back shut well, but I've noticed the throttle tube itself has a ton of slack before engaging. Like an inch or two. I rode it like this and it wasn't horrible, but definitely needs to be adjusted tighter.

I've tried backing the nut all the way out and in on the throttle side and at the carb but I can't seem to get it to respond to what I want in either direction of adjustments.

Is it that I should've bought a 00' cr250 throttle cable or is there a common fix that I'm missing? Throttle cable length seems fine and I'm even running bar risers on this bike.

The PWK comes in many variates, post some photos of the carb and adjusters.

Okay will do one day this week when I go by the house. I do know it's the PWK 38 but not sure if it's the long or short body carb.

Does the cable have an inline adjuster?

Negative, it is just a brand new 2002 cr250 throttle cable.

I’d put the cable for the corresponding carburetor on, given that the PWK you have came off an ‘00 CR250.

I hate that that is the answer seeing as I just bought this one brand new lol but I am about 99% certain that it's the correct fix.

Oh great, that 2000 cr250 cable is no longer available on motosport...

To me the throttle connection and mechanics is a lot more important on the slide end of the carb, on the throttle housing end you can make up differences with trying different routing and what not.

Check Motion Pro, or even a Tusk cable on Rocky Mountain. I’ve used plenty and have had no problems.

I definitely prefer to stick with OEM but I cannot find the OEM cable anywhere for a 2000 cr250. I'll try the Motion Pro out since it's only $6...I could swear I remember someone saying the Motion Pro cables were not always OEM length though. Worth a try I guess.
