I posted a number of photos of Magoo in this thread Godspeed Danny some of my own, some reprints of mags that are up on the web, and a couple others up on the web that were not my shots, including at least one by Warren Price, a pretty good photographer back in the day and currently as well.

I don't think I gave any attribution to any of the pics (including my own), and apparently that left the impression that I took the pics that are Warren's property.

I got a very pleasant email from Warren over the weekend asking that his pics not be used, out of respect for his rights and his business. I absolutely agree that folks should not claim credit for photos they don't take and apologize for any misimpression that my carelessness here caused.

Check out Warren's site, he's got some great stuff for sale.

You know what sucks ? Transworld MX had nothing on it web site about Magoo passing. It was nice to go to the real MX mag sites like Racer X, MXA, Cycle news etc to read the tributes and check out the pics of Magoo , but then you get the flatbiller mag Transworld and not a thing.

That was my bad actually. Donn asked me to write something (and I was going to use a pic that I purchased from Warren Price ironically) but I don't really go that far back and had never met Magoo. Then I read Jody's MXA piece and thought, well I can't write anything that good and it really encapsulated what Magoo was all about.

So blame me more than TWMX.

WOW, someone actually stepping and admitting they were wrong or dropped the ball on something. Does that kind of thing really happen?

Why not ask Jody / MXA if his story can be run on TWMX.COM and in the next issue of TWMX. It's times like these where pride and EGO should be shelved so the life of one of our sports greatest can be be shared and celebrated, especially with a group like TWMX readers who "don't really go that far back and had never met Magoo". (or had the opportunity to see him ride).

My turn to make sure the author/photographer, whose work I pasted into FTE's thread, gets proper credit.

I think he is too modest, as I really had to search for his name on the site.
His name is Randy Petree, of the greater Kansas City area. His entire site is really cool, so take some time and navigate it all. Magoo is featured in the "July 3, 1977 125 National" article. I was at that event.

I don't think we had any differences, and as far as I can tell it's all good. He has some great old shots (and wonderful non-moto work) and recognition should be given where it's due. With immediate news of Magoo's death I joined with others putting up some pics here from google images that spoke to us, including for my part one of Warren's ~ Magoo with his helmet on backward.

That's a great pic; I neglected to credit Warren. I'm trying to remedy that now and direct people to his work, which is terrific. As much as anyone I appreciate that people should credit a photographer for his work. I suspect there may have been some confusion about whether I was claiming it as my own, which I didn't, wouldn't, and never have done with another photographer's works. Ever. I think the context of the thread bears that out. That said, Warren should be credited for his work and his rights respected.

Jay, your reaction is uncalled for. As I tried to convey, Warren was gracious in every respect. I have the greatest respect for the people who recorded the sport's history, and for good photographers in general. You should, too.

Sorry Michael, I'm just not seeing it that way.

Thanks, Mike. No apology necessary. We're cool. As we both know, protecting our rights and copyright are important. As for making money off the dead ... I don't know that I wouldn't bit, I didn't. I donated the subject image to the German Club (Gailsdorf) where it was taken. They used it in an Magoo's obituary in local papers ... with a proper credit line.

Again, you deserve a lot of respect, Mike. This post was certainly not necessary for me ... but thanks to one photographer from another.

PS: I donated images to Magoo's van fund as well. Brad did not use them but they were certainly available.
