AER air to spring conversion kits

I am wondering if anybody who has done one of these conversions, when the fork compresses does your spring rub on the lower fork tube and make a god aweful noise when doing so? If so or not what kit did you use? I used the kroozetune kit and the spring rubs. I emailed the guy and he said it was normal because of the length of the spring and I wouldn't notice it while riding. He was right about that part, but just hearing it sitting still just doesn't sound right. I disassembled/reassembled it to make sure I didn't do anything wrong. I rode it today, and did like it better than the air so that is a plus.

When I first got my 6500 kit I remember being able to hear the springs when I compressed the forks. I have about 10 hours on them and don’t really hear anything when I compress them now. I don’t know if they “broke in” or I just expect it to sound different now.

I thought about the 6500 kit, but I went with the single sided deal. It does work better than air on off camber hills for sure.

I did the K-Tech.  No noise, works really well.  Is your spring preloaded any?  Mine's about 6mm, so its not moving around.  Still trying to figure out how to balance the oil between it and the damper side.  What levels are you running?

actually with a couple of rides the noise has pretty much gone away. I also have about 6mm of preload. The oil level is a bit of a mystery right now. I put 380ml in both tubes, they didn't specify for the spring side, and I used their valving setup on the other side and I didn't notice on the setup sheet in small print at the bottom it said 200-220ml for that side. I ran a 2hr hare scramble with it like that last weekend. It was not as bad as it sounds with how much more oil in it than they recommended. I have sent them an email to confirm what I am supposed to have in each leg but I haven't heard back from them yet.

Either mine came with a sheet or I found it on their web.  It showed 380 for the spring side.  I've read where some end up at 400.  As for the dampening side, I believe the KTM spec is 220 +/- 20.   The tuner I used for a revalve told me he goes up to 280.  Before K-Tech, I had 260 in each to get my bottoming around 1.5" from total.  I'm now at 380 & 250 and its a little soft.  All depends on how fast you are I guess.   Keep us posted if you make changes!

Thanks, that info is helpful for sure. I am wanting mine on the softer side because this particular bike is setup for woods only. I use my yz450 for moto. I think I will pull 120ml out of the valving side and see how that does first. That should put me around 260ml. I will leave the spring side at 380 for now.
