If Dungey would just say what's on his mind I think he would garner the respect of even more of the fans... it's frustrating hearing him repeat the same answers regardless of the situation from week to week.

You don't have to talk $hit,do drugs, get in fights, listen to metal music.

You just let your bike and results do your talking.Thats the definition of a BADASS!

Dungey

Go spend a week with Pastrana, and then bring some of that showmanship to the races, and you will go far Grasshopper.

As soon as Tom Cruise finishes up and gets the Ryan Dungey story up on the big screen, it's over for everybody else. I even here he's got a full blown Nascar deal set up for next year. He's also "the fastest man on the planet" now.

Good kid, his hard work is paying off. All he has to do is keep it on two wheels and pressure everyone else into mistakes. Worked really good for him this year, Stewart didn't even make two races trying to beat him. I'm still bummed about RV's bailoff though, was really enjoying watching that kid burning it up on his way to the points lead.

lol,if you ask me, he is ahead of mcgrath ,given the same time frame between the two.
injuries could of gone his way in all 3 of those series as well as the de nations race.
so when does a spectator stop saying luck is on his side?
i bet the very first time he gets sidelined w/ an injury, this board will light up like flys on shit.

I remember those championships, and I also remember that aside from his SX Lites title last year, he lucked out in all of them.

250 Nationals: Pourcel had the championship locked up until the second to last round when his bike blew up. At the time he was about 15 points ahead. Dungey won by default.

MXoN: Cairoli dominated the first MX1 race with Reed not far behind. The only reason the US and Dungey won is Cairoli, Reed, and Paulin all went down in the second moto. Again, Dungey by default.

2010 SX: Let's see, Stewart: Out; Reed: Out, Grant: Out; Short: Out. RV was with in striking distance (after being more than 25 points down at one point), when he got hurt. If the momentum had stayed that way, it would have come down to the wire.

The only similarity between Dungey and MC is that they both ride motorcycles. McGrath was far and away the best rider of his era. RD has a long, long, long way to go to reach the level of dominance, personality, and style that the King had/has.

I like Dungey and do think that he is a positive influence for the sport, but he is also about as exciting stale tortilla chips. The kid needs some PR lessons. It is ok to speak your mind occasionally, in fact that is a good thing. He is losing fans by being so bland 100 percent of the time. He wasn't always this way, but in the last two seasons he has become robotic. Loosen up!
this is why they race moto- x/sx.
why do people feel that in order to be the best, that the rider must be the fastest?
they are not competing in time trials .
james stewart is a perfect example.he's not the best at this sport,he is the fastest though.
right now, dungey is the best sx/mx rider.

to a level no other rider has. Heres why:

He has the GQ looks
He is very well spoken
He is up there with the best in talent
He acts professionally
Hell, he already has huge sponsors like Target and NIKE on board.

I would not be surprised to see him become the biggest and richest ever. Just because we have never had such a marketable rider.

Jeremy took the sport to it's current level, with big salaries, sponsors, etc...
I think Dungey is the first guy that could become even bigger. And unlike some of the recent champs... This guy is humble.
I don't agree with the "He is very well spoken" part

He talks like a third-grader that's in the special-reading class. I don't think that's good for the sport at all...

But he does seem to have the overall package and I agree, his professionalism on how he handles himself is what is good for the sport and it's image.

I was going to chime in on this one, but Regis pretty much said what I would of. So instead of gracing you all with my take, and so Regis doesn't change his mind, I'll just echo what he said...

Dude may change his mind now that I agree with him though...

Chad won both of his SX titles when the main competition was out. James never won till RC retired, and everyone wants to say how RD was handed this Championship? I was at Anaheim one, and JS was not injured and had nothing for Dungey. He won by a hair at the very end, but he was not pulling away at all.

Next year will be the deepest class of talent to line up in many, many years. Cant wait!

Interesting topic... sorry for jumping in late...

Ryan is going to benefit from every champion before him, and I believe he completely gets it. It's his world right now and fortunately for us he has the integrity to handle it with class.

Just saw the pics of the yellow Nike boots the Dunge was wearing at Seattle.. Looks like NIKE is pretty involved to keep evolving them like that, really have to wonder if MX gear is not next.

That's the race that James reeled Dungey's lead in a matter of laps right and won right?!?!?

Lets not get out of hand here... Dungey is great, but he still won this title with last years top 4 not here, and then defaulted to the win when really, take out that jump, you'd just as easily say RV had it... Just like the luck that happened in the lites outdoors...

The titles get written down, but commen sense decides the best... James is still that guy, and is until he quits or someone flat takes it from him....

Don't get me wrong, i'm not one of those "straight up" wankers, you race to the flag, but you've gotta be at the race too...

Dungey is very brandable, and part of that is choosing a brand that fits and running with it. He doesn't have to pitch to the outlaw brand, and that's a brand that's pretty well covered in any event.

I do think he'd do well to get (or continue) polishing his public speaking and presentation. It's not that he's bad at it, he's better than most, but he's still pretty raw.
Thank you FTE...

Ryan is still young. As he matures and gets tainted, I mean..."handled" by the high paid, slick industry PR people/insiders...he'll start speaking like a lot of the masses expect.
I don't see Ryan as that boring, he is repetitous-as are just about all of those guys that are expected to pitch there sponsers(I grow tired of hearing the same ol-same ol too-but that's exactly what these kids are told to say)). He answers all of the questions that are asked of him candidly, and honest with no hint of arrogance or "I don't want to be here" type looks. What the hell more do people expect?!
No...I think a lot of you guys are a bit down on Dungey because of what his values are, how he was reared, and frankly...I think a lot of the younger, flat billed crowd are flat ass jealous as hell of the boy. He's above all that shit...

I've have abstained from personal attacks/name calling on this board, but am growing weary of the goons(read:KIDS) on here/& in public, running a guy down that's just about exemplery for the sport-along with Trey Canard(J Weimer too). God forbid, we have some clean cut, respectful, courteous young men representing our passion!
Can't have that, now can we!!!!!!

And as far as JailLaw and HansEn...Jason needs some strict guidance/parenting before he winds up doing time in a DOC(that'd be dept of corrections for some of you guys) if he don't toe the line-I still don't get why anyone would support this guy with his finishes where they've been..., And Josh is just real lucky and blessed Mitch has a heart for the boy-from his dad Donnie. He hasn't been so lenient with other riders that have come and gone on the PC team(Mitch is probably paying him-"per finish results", truth be told). Josh is LUCKY to be friends with him, but I think he'd best start showing Mitch something before his patience is gone.

Classic. The guy that won had nothing for the guy that finished 2nd and motowhore's reasoning is that the guy in 1st wasn't pulling away.

Watched that Anaheim race 100x's over.I wouldn't go as far as saying James had nothing for Dungey, yes Dungey did start to open a gap on him but he started to choke in that on off section 2 laps in a row losing alot of time around lap 15-16.He had em on the ropes and couldn't finish.

These young guns of RV and RD are gonna start pushing James to start hanging it out there again.Which more then likely means more injuries for him.

Personally, I have nothing against RD and think he's done an incredible job in his young career.

If some people find him a bit boring, that doesn't necessarily mean they are Jlaw fans or don't respect the kid... at least that's the way I see it.

And comparing him to MC and the like, at least for now, is just dumb.... Just like comparing RV to RC is dumb. IMO

When I see Ryan Dungeys interviews I think 2 words.

Fedor Emelianenko-Prolly one of the best fighters in the world, but one of the most bland personalitys during interviews and off camera. But yet we crave to see him fight.
