I was talking to MX Geoff about Herlings. It's amazing that it's been since, what, Strijbos and Van den Berk that Holland had such a phenom. I know Tragter won a title and Calimero is a fantastic sand rider, but Herlings seems like he could go further than VDB, who won two world titles in the late '80s. Very impressive.

Yea herlings has the talent.
Today there's a race for the Dutch championship and there are a lot of fast GP riders in that race.
Herlings
van Horenbeek
Frossard
Simpson
Roelants
and Dennis verbrugen.
Herlings was 3 seconds a lap faster as everybody.
Next Week Gp of valkenswaard (herlings home GP)!!!

That is ridiculous how much he is beating those guys, and Shaun is really good in sand he won at Valkensward last year.

I knew he would be fast this year, but I was thinking top 5 and podiums in the sand, but he looks like he is a threat to win anywhere right now and he seems to get faster every week. This weekends GP will be awesome!

Watching top guys in sand is like ballet. Awesome.

(Well, ballet isn't, but you know what I mean).

He backed it all up today in BIG style.

Brilliant!

The best part was him sitting in the broadcast booth at the end of the MX1 moto and chatting in extremely high quality english, sounding very much like he'd been doing it for years.

What an incredible day for a 15 year old kid.

Former World Champ Dave Strijbos said -

“There isn’t another like him, I mean Roczen and Musquin are good, but I am not sure they are even as exciting as this kid. He is just 15 years old; it is really a special day for Dutch Motocross. We have waited a long time to have this type of atmosphere back in Holland."

Agree with m.

I believe he's the most talented Rider out there

I couldn't get over how well spoken he was in the booth during the 450's. For a 15 year old that was as impressive as his riding if you ask me.
4/25/2010 6:14pm
Even on 85's he was already thanking his mechanic and his sponsors.

Very professional and talented rider.

www.mxlarge.com has an interesting article on Herlings, with glowing praise from Beirer, Everts and Davy Strijbos on just how good this guy is.

Does it get any better than winning your 1st GP at only your 3rd attempt, and doing it in your home country by going 1-1 all at 15?
