the plastic tank has a crack in it, what is the best way to fix that

Replace it. Clarkemfg.com has replicas or cruise Ebay or check out Vintagemx.us swapmeet. The guys there are pretty cool and straight shooters.

Can you post up a pic of the crack? I may have some advice. Tanks for the 80 model are a little hard to come by and nice ones are $$$$$.

drill 1/8" holes in the end of each crack to prevent further spreading. Clean the area very well, including inside the crack if you can will rubbing alcohol. Rough up the area, and inside the crack if you can. Use Seal- All as per the directions. It will work for about a 2 weeks, and then you will have to remove it, and re-apply. I had a crack in an old YZ tank, and Seal-All was the only thing I ever found which would seal the tank if only temporary,
