Hey guys.
I've been riding and loving flexair for years. Super light weight. Flexible. Tight.
Thinking of giving FXR a shoot, but since its all online, I'm looking for some feedback and reference from what we know (flexair)
I called in to their customer service line to get info = Zero help. Terrible.
I'm sure you moto fans will have better info and will show FXR support how help looks like
1- Is revo/helium as light weight and tight as flex air?
2- whats really the difference between helium and revo?
revo seems to be A- or B+ (looking at the price). but description is the same on the website. and color ways seems to be even more atractive.
any flexair fans have also made this switch?
Thanks for the help guys.
The way most moto companies go about describing the differences between their gear lines leaves a lot to be desired. It's basic Marketing 101.
Oh and sorry, I don't have experience with FXR to be helpful with a comparison. Just agreeing with you.
Stick with the Flexair.
Hey Garrett. Any particular reason for your statement? I love the fox airline and flexair, just interested in your opinion of the fox flexair vs the FXR stuff.
Heres my opinion as someone that is on year 3 with FXR.
1- I have no experience with Fox so I cant give you a comparison between those two. I can say that in my experience though FXR does fit tighter than Thor and TLD, I had to go from a medium to a large jersey and from a 32 to 34 pants when I switched to FXR.
2: There isn't a ton of difference I notice between the helium and revo. Helium IMO does look and feel like a better quality product and breaths just a bit better but both are very small differences between the two. I had Helium the last two years and revo this year simply due to colors I liked, given a choice I would pick Helium but again there isn't much difference.
The biggest reason I like FXR though is the durability. The reason I switch from Thor after 8 years was the last two years I used them I couldn't go more than a weekend or two without ripping the knees of my pants and I had the same issue with TLD the two years I used them. I have one set of Helium on its third year, zero holes in it. Gear from last year would have no holes either except I leaned against my headpipe on accident and burned a small spot, which to my surprise hasn't torn any further. FXRs quality seems top notch and I'll continue using them and recommending them for as long as that quality remains in place.

I"m 6'0, 200 lbs.
Been wearing Large/34 for over 15 years (Thor, Fox, One, FXR).
Lean/bigger frame (closer to a hockey player than Motocrosser).
In FXR I wear Large/34 in all models and wear an EVS F1 Roost Deflector underneath.
If you have a bigger chest or wear a larger chest protector, you'd be good to go up a size up on the jersey.
Helium and Revo are very similiar in performance.
Helium
Jersey is Poly/spandex with the majority of the panels being perforated. This means vented but not full mesh. Arms/sides have Poly/Span mesh. Everything stretches but is a very Athletic cut.
Pants are perforated 4-way stretch (vented and all the material stretches).
Revo
Jersey is full Poly/Span mesh. This jersey has more ventilation and stretch than Helium, and is a slightly more relaxed cut. Overall fit is still tailored to athletes but less so than Helium. Pants are not perforated.
Vapor = same materials as Helium, with a different cut/sew for the pattern on the jersey.
Vapor Air (I would recommend you try this as well as Helium as a Floridian).
All new platform 3+ years in development with Club, Nicoletti, MX101, Tickle.
Full 4-way stretch, and extremely light.
You can see the material and hear Mcelrath talk about it here during that crazy Pala 2 national (starts at 11:40):

If you like what Nicoletti has been wearing, FTA Stylz is very similiar to FXR Helium.
FXR Helium/Revo/Vapor/Vapor Air/Podium/FTA have a metal ratchet Auto-Buckle on the waist keeping your pants very secure from any movement at the waist, this is a nice upgrade compared to many other brands.
2024/2024.5 Helium/Revo/Vapor/Vapor Air are borderline sold out, but there may still be some left at Motosport/RMATVMC.
WMR, Motobros, or Sarasota Powersports might have some in stock or can get it for you too.
Vapor White/black, Skyline, and Vapor Air Subzero have a second delivery arriving any day.
Sublimated Name/number Jerseys are designed and manufactured in Winnipeg.
I wore Fox for over 20 years, it slowly went downhill in quality, durability, AND consistency in sizing. Tried FXR two years ago and I can say it beats Fox in every category for me. Sizing was close enough I didn't have to change what I usually wore.
I'd go through Fox gloves in a single practice day, stitching coming apart....things like that. If you even sniff the ground in the high end Fox stuff, it's shredded. I know it's purpose is not durability, so take that for what you will.
Great input from you guys. I knew you wouldn't disappoint
Im adding here two pieces of info that I got today.
from Keefer: "Helium is light but not as light as Flex Air"
from FXR (after 3 emails back and forth for them to give an aswer)
"The fitment between the Helium and Revo is the same. The main difference between the two is the fabric that is used. The Helium is our top end jersey that is made from two fabrics and is the most vented and lightest jersey we make. The Revo is made from 1 fabric which makes it not as vented compared to the helium and would be next in line for lightness compared to the helium."
I do love flex air. but I think they are falling behind even on designs. FXR seems to be putting a lot of effort and creativity.
when it comes to durability, its hard to judge a super light weight suit, because the more light you go the thinner it is, the more delicate will be, I guess...
I have been wearing FXR for over 6 years. You would like the Helium, Vapor and Vapor Air line.
Ventilation and overall durability is better with Fox. I can go half the FTR season or more on a set of Fox Flexair or Airline stuff (10+ hours, each race is 2/2:30 hours). FXR stuff was lucky to get one race. This place loves FXR and most of those people don’t race long races like you and I do.
I have a set of FXR Helium gear that is probably the best set of gear I have owned. Absolutely no complaints.
Not sure what you are doing to get maybe one race out of the FXR gear, but I have several gear sets with well over 30 hours of riding and nothing has torn or worn though.
Almost every new set of gloves I put on, the seams would bust. If they didn’t then, for sure when I rode. I tried xl gloves, still did it. Same with the jerseys and pants, stitching was junk. Knees got worse every year. They use to use really good leather.
