Snapped one of the teeth on a clutch basket on a KX125 many years ago....  it let go on the face of a jump......  broken nose, busted teeth and dislocated shoulder when I was ejected out the front when it locked up....

Funny thing was the bike started fine when I got home.. my old man thought i'd crashed due to lack of skill.... soon shut up when it locked up again a minute or so later.....

Had a test bike tie up on a public road a few years back. I was wearing board shorts, t-shirt & vans. Slid down the road and lost some skin. It affected my whole summer.

ENTIRELY MY OWN FAULT!

”Test Bike”…on the way to get gas for a ride later that spring day…dressed like a complete Fxxxing Idiot (superb TLD helmet and MX gloves tho).
Laughing

The ignition rotor had been removed to install some different parts…it was over-torqued on reinstalled per the company engineers and splayed up on the crankshaft and ground against the internal case until it ground to a stop…QUICKLY at around 60 mph/4th gear…

Rear wheel stopped RIGHT NOW & I was thrown down on the pavement of a multi-lane expressway right in front of a surfer in his 911 complete with broad rack…no shit.

So, I did the Skate Park Slide…burning skin the whole damn time and grateful to see the HUGE EYES of that surfer-dude what was “present” and actually cock blocking the regular folk from running me over. Right side-calf, right thigh and hip…holes in my skin in too many places…but, the end of the day just a real bad road rash that we’ve all been getting since falling off our skateboards & bicycles…

There are several skin therapies for everything from 2nd-3rd degree burns to stuff avail for people that get too damn many plastic surgeries…& most of them work! I’m jus’ known’…

It was an accident. Shit happens. I’m still here.

Pavement sucks sometimes Laughing

No motor lock ups outside of a couple 125 top ends going out. Four strokes have been good to me in that regard. But the 09 Suzuki 450’s tranny sure was weak. So many false neutrals even with beefed clutch and springs. Someone mentioned a 12 Honda 450 above and I thought that trans was butter compared to the Suzuki. Always had best luck with Yamahas

Just wondering how common this is among us average Joes, especially in the 4-stroke era? Last Saturday my 450 locked up on the face of a small jump. Over the bars I went and off to the hospital with blunt force trauma and internal bleeding. We have all heard of this happening, but in my 45 years of riding, the last 20 of them on 4-strokes, this was the first time for me. This one has been rough, and not gonna lie, its got me rethinking my riding. Can't imagine being a pro like Brandon Hartraft (sp?) and having this happen. So back to the question...... if this has happened to you, how were you able to deal with it?

I used to have problems with my 2 strokes.  They would bog out sometimes off the lip of a jump and I’d endo over the bars.

my college roommate lost one of his best friends at Perris Raceway back in the early 2000’s.  His engine bogged before the biggest double.  Sadly he passed away.  Shane Kelly #556

Years ago I had just got my old '05 RMZ450 back from a fresh top-end and a reputable shop and had a timing chain snap on the bottom of a jump face. Luckily I didn't go over the bars but at the very top of the jump I had no balance at all so I fell off the side of the jump. Really messed with me (still does a bit) as it just had the timing chain replaced. Apparently the stock automatic timing chain adjusters for that year were known to not apply tension properly. I switched to a manual adjuster after that and didn't have a problem. I maintain my bikes pretty meticulously, but it was an older bike. Now that I can afford it I'm going to try and get a new bike every few years and keep being hardcore about oil changes and air filter changes.

Autopsy results show the cause of the failure and subsequent crash. Dropped valve. Only things that weren’t replaced on rebuild. Go figure…. 🙄

Back when I was on 85’s we were racing around my practice track and my buddy on his 4 wheeler shut off on the face of the big double he cased it I had no where to go. I ended up landing on the back of it and bent the bars all the way forward with my knees
