So, I went and got my-self one fo those Light-Weight Trendy Euro-Trash Road Bikes, well, actually it's a Cyclo-Cross bike...like the ones they've been ridin' in the rain-n-crap in Europe this week on the telly and in the news...
It's a raod bike that's jus' a lil' more robust and has tires with a "Universal-tread". It's kinda like a Dual-Sport road bike.
In this case: a road bike w/ a stouter frame and cantilever brakes. A Windsor "Cyclo".
Shimano - 20 sp. Ultegra Rr/105 Ft & Shifters/Levers.
Rode it to the shop today...10 miles...in the Rain...and Wind. Even took a few short-mild trails.

I had forgotten how well these things "Roll". "Bunny-Hoppin" it is like doin' a Double...BY ACCIDENT!
The brakes, I'm told by the kid at thte shop that set it up for me...are really good. Especially the "shoes"...
But, these ain't the DISCS(!) on my Mt. Bike. That's my only bitch.
Bought the bike, delivered to my door, for $795.
Paid the "kid" at The Chain Gang $145 to go thru it -COMPLETELY- and slam some SPDs on it (Pedals Designed to make you look like an idiot when you forget to click out of them and you fall over at a "stop").
$940 later...I can't recommend this to you enough! Those of you that have been thinkin' about doin' this...
Jus' DO IT!
Maybe we all can get into the shape we'd like to be and bang bars at the track!

(Btw, got the bike from BikesDirect.Com. No-ONE could touch the Price v. Bike/Groupo that they have...at-least not in Redding.)

Careful with the pedals,,, I came to a stop, kicked out my right foot to put down, fell over to the left side with my left foot still in the peddle.... put a sprocket tooth into my ankle, severing a tendon... surgery, etc....
I use to ride everyday,, lots of fun.

I wouldn't know what to do with a Tri bike, but that thing has some sexy curves. (Not that I could afford one like this)
Beware the Bike Industry Bull-Shit/Name-droppin' "Price-Game".
You might wanna check out BikesDirect and see if they have something (Kestrel) that makes sense.

As to true C/S: They got back to me fairly quickly when I inquired, originally, about a bike brand/groupo-type selection.
Bottom-line: The Bike/Groupo that you get, from them, for the money...?
Seems un-beatable!
I'm really pleased to get the bike (see top of thread) that I got...for $795!
