Priceless entertainment watching the cluelessness in his posts. I think he should change his screen name to Morning Joe.

You can’t make this shit up. Laughing

This is where we’re at:  all or nothing.  We can be aligned on 99% of an issue, but that 1% disagreement launches personal attacks and knee-jerk “libtard” references.

9/11 and the Hamas attack were vastly different, sharing only the regional origin of the perpetrators (and even those are different religious sects). But those who challenge group assumptions are greeted with repetitive, uninspired insults. Really?  That’s where we are?  Life’s successes will be few and far between with that mantra.

That's not what their saying with the comparison of the two. They are simply saying that flying jetliners into buildings was as unbelievable a concept before it occurred as paragliders dropping grenades and shooting from the skies is.

They all garner a "that could never happen" attitude. Until they do. They aren't saying they are the same type of attack, or same group, or any other similarity, just that things aren't as secure, in general, as many seem to think.

The fleeing terrorists may copy “The Great Escape” and high-tail it to a variety of exit points.  There’s no cost-effective way to secure every mile of the southern, northern, and coastal borders. Not saying we shouldn’t make an effort, but it’s always been fairly easy to cross into the US, and today’s more porous border isn’t that big of an incentive for modern-day militants.

I imagine the Feds and local authorities are taking the pulse of what’s going down in Dearborn and Minneapolis, including people inside those groups. But until a viable, credible threat is recognized, these groups should be free to march, protest, whatever. We may not like it, but it’s the very foundation of the 1st Amendment.

As for thwarting a Hamas-style attack, maybe we should look internally first.  That lunatic raining gunfire down on Las Vegas concert attendees wasn’t an illegal immigrant, and neither was the guy who waded into a Texas elementary school and mowed down a bunch of kids. But hey, 2nd Amendment, right?

Why are we gnashing teeth over a hypothetical threat while ignoring actual threats occurring almost weekly?  The 1st and 2nd Amendments must have equal weight.  A majority of Americans would likely want to suppress anti-America demonstrations, just like a majority want tighter gun control.  But if the majority always wins, then stand by to lose some of your own freedoms.

Your first paragraph lays out the supposition that the Feds are probably shadowing the movements of these groups in Mich. & Minn., as they should.  And in the second paragraph you try and assimilate of a couple of whack jobs, to that of an organized group publicly chanting and proclaiming their adherence to the notion of, "Death to America".  Then finally funneling it down into a 1st and 2nd amendment rights issue and ending it with some democratic majority wins twaddle.

That's well and fine for the high school debate club, but this shit is going to be all up in our ass before you can mutter allahu akbar.  I'm leaning on the premise that I doubt these fanatics give two shits about the constitution, amendments or a majority vote.

We just perceive threats differently.  I find the threat of gun violence more “real” than the threat of an uprising by organized, yet relatively small, anti-US groups.  Yet both threats are tolerated due to the First and Second Amendments. No need to make it personal.

In that context, yes, we cannot solve for every potential threa5,, because the options are almost infinite.  Will the US face another attack in the future?  Almost certainly it will.  But from whom, where, and how remains a mystery.

The ‘68 DNC was one for the ages. A very unpopular war spurred by a president who decided to sit out the election. But most importantly, a draft was in place, and nothing will start a riot faster than the real threat of conscription during wartime.

As for a Hamas-styled attack, what’s missing is a unifying cause.  Of course, only a handful of people are needed to create panic, but then again, the 9/11 perpetrators were here legally, so securing the border doesn’t necessarily minimize the risk. But border crossings must be contained for a variety of other reason; minimizing an organized, armed incursion is a nice side effect.

Wouldn’t a Hamas style attack mean a group of armed people come across the boarder, attack civilians in a border town, and then slip back over the border?  Securing the border absolutely would reduce the possibility of this kind of attack.

And there already is a very unifying cause…they hate America.

By and large, immigrants are fleeing to America to escape a place they actually hate. Will there be outliers?  Sure. And I’m not saying we should not secure our borders. I’m saying that a Hamas-style threat is relatively low, as immigrants don’t have a religious doctrine driving militant behavior. And those that do will not be hampered by a pesky border patrol anyway.

One thing to consider:  Mexican drug cartels will not take kindly to some Mid-East funded warlord invading their turf. They also understand that attacking the US will bring an unwanted response. So any Koran-waiving exiles better have a damn solid business plan in place before stepping up operations.

We’ve armed the cartels before. We can do it again.

I don’t think the cartels want the kind of heat a Hamas style of attack on the US would bring.

A Hamas attack would simply be a suicide mission. That’s their MO.

These are terror cells. These cells are one way tickets…

Also, no need to setup a base of operations across the border when you have a beach head established in places like Michigan.

Define what your interpretation of a Hamas-style attack is.

From this quote it seems the person that said it is referring to it in the "never before seen" type:

"I don't think it's out of the question to believe that a Hamas-style attack that happened Oct. 7 could happen to us," El Cajon Mayor and congressional candidate Bill Wells said. "That another 9/11-style attack or something we've never even seen before could happen."

Right. Titan pivoted over to put words in my mouth I never said. I’ve never denied that we can be the victim of a terrorist attack. What I’m saying is a terrorist organization couldn’t set up camp near our border, parachute in, kill thousands, take hundreds of hostages, then escape back over. They couldn’t even do one of those things on their own with our military and intelligence what it is, as well as our perfect geographical location. Never ever gonna happen. Building the straw man argument is pretty lame, but it’s to be expected. Hope that's cleared up.

You're the one who built the straw man argument with the insistence on the need for absolute similarities to the Hamas attack.

The quote shared in the OPs original post clearly shows the Hamas-style attack (and also mentions 9/11) that was being referred to meant a previously unseen and unexpected type of attack.

If the criteria is “unexpected and unseen” then yes I agree that could happen to us at any time. And it’ll be from within. A psycho shooting up Mandalay Bay for instance.

Biden Admin Released Afghan Terrorist Into U.S. After He Illegally Crossed Border, Is Roaming Free: Report

An illegal alien from Afghanistan who is a member of an Islamic terrorist group is freely roaming the streets of America after the Biden administration released him into the country after he crossed the southern border.

NBC News reported that 48-year-old Mohammad Kharwin spent a year roaming the streets of America after border officials released him in 2023.

Kharwin is on the FBI’s national terrorist watchlist because he “is a member of Hezb-e-Islami, or HIG, a political and paramilitary organization that the U.S. has designated a terrorist organization,” the report said.

The Director of National Intelligence says that Hezb-e-Islami, or “Party of Islam,” is a “virulently anti-Western insurgent group whose goal is to replace the Western-backed Afghan Government with an Islamic state rooted in sharia.”

The terror suspect was arrested last month, but released again by an immigration judge in the Biden administration’s Department of Justice who was not told of his terrorist ties. He paid his $12,000 bond and was released and is out on bond and there are “no restrictions on his movements” inside the U.S., the report said.

He was released by the Biden administration because they reportedly “lacked corroborating information” confirming his terrorist ties, but they wouldn’t disclose what they were missing.

Kharwin has since applied for “asylum and work authorization,” and has flown domestically inside the U.S., the report said.

His next court date is not until next year, the report added.

The case comes just a couple months after another bombshell report emerged about an Islamic terrorist with al-Shabaab who roamed the U.S. free for nearly a year.

In March 2023, according to an internal federal memo, federal authorities caught a terrorist illegally crossing the southern border, then shortly thereafter released him into the country, where he stayed before he was arrested recently in Minnesota.

The terrorist, who was determined in mid-January 2024 to be a “confirmed member of al-Shabaab” by the Terrorist Screening Center, was initially considered a “mismatch” after his name was examined through the terror watchlist, The Daily Caller reported. On January 20, he was caught in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Al-Shabaab was named a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department in March 2008. The group pledged loyalty to al-Qaeda in 2012. According to the Counter-Terrorism Guide for the Director of National Intelligence, “Since 2014 al-Shabaab has killed more US citizens than any other al Qa’ida affiliate, and as of 2022, was its wealthiest component.”

I shot a man in Reno once, just to watch him die.

If either side truly wanted the issues at the border resolved, the issues would be resolved. Both sides, at one time or another, have had control of the WH, Senate & Congress, yet didn't get it done. Seems something else is at play here.

For as much, and how many times this issue has been discussed, it boggles ones' mind that you haven't grasp the fact that this border crisis 'CAN' be resolved by one man, the President, by executive order.  There's no need for it to go through all three branches, the laws are already written.  It's a simple matter of enforcement, and that is being ignored by only one side.  That's what's being played here.
