Some of you might have seen the previous post on James laptop going south, James was using the laptop to design & print T-shirts to make a little money to help pay bills.

Here's an update from his buddy Cody, if you can spare a few $$ please do so.

Okay I have some bad news and good news.

James laptop is not fixable. Howard Lobel aka BigMacio worked on the unit for two days and it will cost as much to fix as what a new one would be.

The good news is that Howard contacted Bruce Vermeulen with Rider Down and told him amout James problem. I got a call this past Saturday from Bruce and he said that Rider Down would buy him a new one if Howard could not get it running.

Well tomorrow morning Howard is picking a new laptop for James. So, make sure you support them as they are supporting our hero James.

The one thing I still need help with is the software James uses for his cool graphic designs on his t-shirts and hoodies. I talked with him tonight and I have a legal copy of everything he needs excepts Photoshop C4 $699 and Photoshop Illustrator $599. That is a total of $1,300 needed to get him the best tools to do his best work and keep him on a grpahic design path he so much enjoy's.

He was working with programs he had given to him, but we looked every where and can't find them as I have assume they were put on the laptop by someone and no leagal copy was left. So this means he is starting over. I know some of you may have these programs but he does not want a pirated version of the software so he will never runs into this problme again. If anyone owns this software and as the rights to load them on another system then he will take it. I just don't want to set him up to have problems down the road. If you do let me know as I will the laptop this weekend and I get it loaded for him.

So what do we do now? Based off the post on the other topic I saw around $500-$700 would be donated from:
*lap-traffic (?)
*Big Daddy (Vernon Patterson)
*55yrs (Tony Lindsey)
*motomom825 (Jill Keyes)
*Divot (?)
*kx621 (David Hillman)
*Lamotox4 (Christon Nelson)
*MX499 (Hans Marshler)
*mommaj03 (Wendy James)
*Eric727 (Eric Shea)
*TopGunMX (Sean Kirby
* cody (Cody Lipps)

He could start off with just C4 and then get Illustrator later when the foundation get kicked off and some money starts coming in I hope. I need your help in getting the word out so we can get him involved in what he does well and enjoy's. If anyone has any contacts with dealer in town that may really help. I would be more than will to talk them. I would like to have both for him but undersatnd that is a lot of money and he may have to start off with just C4.

The last thing is voice recognition software. He is trying to write a book about what he has been through and how to win when it seams impossible. Rider Down and the Ace Burt (the guy who paid for his power chair) both said they have it and will get it to me. The book I am sure will be a great read as many of you I am sure will mentioned in it for what you have done for him.

You can send any money to my PayPal (we have not set one up for his foundation as we are waiting on the 501-3c still) and I will buy the software and install it for him. My PayPal email acount is cody.lipps@sbcglobal.net.

If you want to send a check you can mail it to me:

James has not been on the forum for obvious reasond, but he will be soon. He wanted me say thank to everyone and will get with each you so he can thank you in person. He said tonight the out pooring of support is more than he ever could of dreamed of and he love you all. If you have any questions or suggestions please call me so we can talk.

Thanks agian, and I will post confirmations when moneys are received so everyone will know where we stand in this project to get James back.

Not trying to be rude, but who pays for software these days? Exp when you can not afford the laptop? I find it hard to believe he doesn't know one person who can hook him up with either a legal copy or a "shared" copy...
Someone hook this brother up with photoshop

Well Russell,

I guess that you don't know much about James story, he's confined to a wheelchair & doesn't have much income other than what he makes selling ,designing graphic's & T-shirts.

Adobe is a very expensive program & people just don't give it away! James is in the process of setting up a 501c3, So "Shared" copies are out of the question

Through the kind support of guy's like Dirt_Dawg, RiderDown.org was able to purchase James a new laptop.

If you knew James you would know why RiderDown supports injured riders like James.

Can anyone out there help him out with an education price on this software? Some of the software can be purchased much cheaper with this discount.

Teamgreen,

Thanks for covering my back!

I was tuning the 490 for the vintage race this Sunday, so I could give Racer92 a face full of roost!

Awesome guys! I'm glad this came together so quickly. I've been out of touch (crashing my brains out in baja) and it's taken a bit to get back up to speed (not there yet) but wanted to say thanks to everyone involved in supporting James directly and indirectly by donating to RiderDown.org.

Cody - has the Voice recognition software been acquired yet?
