Your 465 crank bearings, did you use heat or just knock them out from the outside in? This left one is stuck in there.

I used my blow torch around the bearing both inside and out, I then used a screwdriver and small rubber hammer on the inside gap of the bearing through the centre of the casing to tap it out. It won't move at all. I don't want to go too hard and break the bloody thing.

You need a socket the size of the inner race. Has to come out straight.

Cheers Phil. There's probably less than 0.5mm protruding. If i cant find one the right size I'll have to get a tool made.

Ordering a piece of 36mm steel bar, only about 30mm in length. It will fit through the outer hole and should rest on the edges of the inner race or bearing.

Phil, on your swing arm, the outer side of the bearing hole, was there a rim or raised lip or ridge the bearing fits up against?

Looks like there's a rim, seal and then bearing with the spacer through the centre on the outer side. Just got the bearings and what looks like crushed up seals between the ridge and bearings to remove.

Check it out. Its not a rubber seal, it's metal and the bearing pushes up against it.

There seems to be a seal pressed between that ring and the bearing. I've removed most of that seal.

I think that bearing is wrong, should be a crowded needle roller, not one with a  cage.

You can buy a full kit from All Balls which has all the bearings and spacers, bearings are an off the shelf item, nothing special.

I've got the All-Balls swing arm kit. This looks like the original bearing only there's a steel bush to the front of it with what looks like a seal wedged between them. It should be seal, bearing and a spacer. This seems to be pressed in there.

I am certain i have never seen a caged swingarm pivot bearing, and i have seen lots, only seen cages in stuff that spins, little end etc.

When you strip them and they are fucked, all the rollers fall out as soon as you pull the spacers.

That might just be an 'example' pic..

Are the All Balls one caged?

Seems to be a sealed needle roller bearing.  So you're right it looks like its the wrong one.

Yeah, they are crowded roller, no cage, what i expected to see, when everything out, it should just be plain diameter through .

I tend to pull them in with a bolt and big washers from the back.

Bit of heat doesnt hurt either but nothing excessive.

I noticed that when i was doing my 85 rm125's swingarm last week that the pivot bearing is "caged" and the cushion lever had the standard needle bearings that you normally see (09263-20041 is/was used in a lot of swingarm applications so it is still readily available new from Suzuki)

my swingarm's bearings were in surprising good condition so i didn't even pull them (didn't want to crack the swingarm either) so i just cleaned and greased them up

the cushion lever bearings... they were a whole other kettle of swearing and yelling at inanimate objects though

that’s the swingarm… guess you need pics of the bearings… that will have to wait til I get home

(Like you I’m not going for a garage queen… just something to muck around on in some vintage races)

Is it silver paint you've used there? It's rather bright. I'm painting the underside and inner arms while leaving the outer arms and hinge semi hand polished. Not sure to use a bright silver or aluminium paint.

I cleaned the dirt off it and that’s all (no polish or scotch bright as I didn’t want to ruin the anodized full floater logo). There is still some discolored welds that I need to address with dish soap and a stiff brush

Here is a pic of a new swingarm pivot bearing I didn’t end up using as the originals were in good nick

I dont remember any of my bikes having caged bearings, which says as much about my memory as anything.

But i always remember the roller falling out.

Ahh anodized. My new rims are anodized silver. I think your bearing is 20mm. These All-Balls bearings are also 20mm.

I feel you on the flying needles…. They are a big pain in the buttress of Windsor especially when they all fall out and then you spend hours looking for them to find the last one stuck on something right in front of your face Sideways

Was cleaning up today and found one in the patio door slideway LOL.

Anyway, update , been busy on other stuff, and havent had time really to get the bike running, but after getting set up to work on them after work today , i fitted a new stator to one of my 250's and its now spot on, so after getting the bikes sorted for the next race, i had a bit of daylight left, and i got her out, fitted the coil i had pulled off diagnosis, a week or so back, and put some fuel in her.

It tried to go first kick but then nothing , so i pulled the plug, primed her with the throttle open, put the plug back in and she went after 3 kicks.  Well pleased , i had her running with the old carb on but she was  a bear to start, but new carb on , and she sounds lovely.

Well i couldnt not see if she went, i hadnt even put her in gear before, but i chucked a helmet on and ran her up the street, all the gears work, and the brakes dont.

I will try and upload the video.

Classic - I had a recent episode like that. Something that feels fine and dandy in the driveway, can sure as s**t Not be, at the end of the road. Thankfully, I had (somewhat) anticipated that. Woohoo

Sadly, my ability to post video's of a 15 second run up the road is not quite at the level of my mechanical abilities.

Its times like this i wish i hadnt made my kids leave home LOL.

If you've uploaded a video to YouTube, watch your video like normal, click 'share' a list of crap will come up, scroll down to copy link, hit on that, then on this comment section, hit the little black square with the white triangle in it next to the emotion or smiley face character,  a box comes up, press down into the box with URL on it, you'll get a drop down list and hit Paste. Your YouTube link will go into that and then click OK and submit your comment.

We have progress.

Got a message today to say that not only is my shock done, the donor one hasnt needed to be used, so there is a possibility that i might get 2 that work.  Its been a while, but at least its done,  all i need to do now is get it rounded up and get my wheel sorted, with bearings and a spacer , and we are good to go, or at least good to try to go.

i missed the first round of my Pre 83 series, but sadly , it got cancelled due to a rider injury in another class, so i can do the rest of the races.

Its funny really, yesterday i was proper over it all, the race at the weekend was hard work, 2 days racing at 58 isnt easy, and alos had a load of issues with my lad's 125 , which i did my head in, coolant loss and poor running, pulled the head , replaced the O Rings, noticed a coolant leak which i though was the rad, but was a loose clip, and then fitted a new plug cap and it ran fine .

Had some fun, we went from carb off, head off, to running and down to the start in about 15 mins, i was race 3 , and when i got back after that we pulled the carb and blew it all out,  i was ready to pull the electrics and swap them out , but decided to do take the head off instead, to check it was running ok. My lad realised that we might make the race, and got ready , while my buddy refitted the rad scoops on his side, i put the head and ignition cover on and my wife got the seat on.  Been a while since i had to do that .

And a quick look at the calendar says that i will get my first chance to ride the 465 at the same track i ran my CR500 in at in 1986.
