I've ridden with SG12s for several years and wanted to try some Tech 10s. I'm a 10.5 in Vans and originally got the 11. Even though the boot felt comfortable, the shell felt pretty oversized. Went to a local shop and picked up a size 10 and I like the snug fit a lot more and it's a lot less bulky. I haven't had a chance to ride with them yet but wearing both sizes around the house I noticed the bottom rivet of the inner brace of the bootie is pushing into the lower part of my ankle bone hard, almost like it's bruising it. Has anyone else experienced this and is this something that gets better as the boot breaks in? Side note, I took the bootie out to see if the snug fit was from the bootie or the shell--the bootie is snug on my foot and the shell is oversized without the bootie in it, so I think the sizing is correct. Any insights or tips would be much appreciated so I know whether I should take them to the track or return them. Thanks!

That sounds like a bummer for sure! I have three pair of Tech 10’s (in size 10) and I have not experienced any issues with mine! I have been happy with my Alpinestar’s and lucky I guess!?
Hopefully you can find a resolution soon! 😎 👍❗️
Try removing the thin stock footbed from the bootie and replacing it with a more supportive one. I used to fit ski boots years ago and the rubbing you're describing usually is the result of a collapsing arch or under supported foot. With The new insoles installed wear the boots around the house for an evening or two before you decide what to do.
I use these Spenco's in my Tech 10's

Alpinestars has very good customer service. I’d give them a call & explain. After I got my ankle fused I had a similar issue & I feel like I had 1 pair of booties that had a different style brace & those didn’t rub me so I just wore those. Maybe ask them if they offer an older style with a different brace style.
I get new boots fairly frequently & now it’s a non issue. I also add laces to my booties & that helps a lot to keep them in place. They don’t come loose at all. you can get a fabric hole punch & some laces maybe that will help so the strap doesn’t come loose
Sounds like the easy solution would be to just go back to SG-12s. 🤷🏻♂️

I have the same issue.
I've heard of that happening if someone has some hardware or rebuilt ankle. I've never heard of it outside of that situation though. Was the booty smashed inside of the boot from someone putting it in wrong? That can deform them a bit but once put in properly it will go back to normal. Only happening on one foot?
I had the same issue but after they broke in everything was good. Unfortunately it was a little uncomfortable for a few rides. I have also heard about people with hardware dremmeling out the booty to be more accommodating.
This did the trick! I wasn't able to order the one's you recommended off Amazon so I'm including the link for anyone else who might have this issue of the one's I ordered. The boots are pretty tight now with my moto socks but with a pair of thin socks (using a pair of dress socks), the boots feel amazing, and my foot is very comfortable after wearing them for over an hour around the house. Thanks for the recommendation!

This is what I experienced as well. Took 1~1½ rides and it no longer rubbed funny.
