Is the 2024 YZ 450FX easier, less demanding to ride than the 2024 YZ 450F. I ride 70% moto 30% off-road. I rode the 2023 YZ 450F it's a beast! Thoughts?

Get a ‘24 KX450 or X.  The easiest to ride 450 I’ve owned to date.  If you’re looking for hard hitting, exciting power, stay on the YZs.

It's closer to the ground by 10mm due to internally lowered suspension, which I think is helpful to most. The power tuner app really allows you to neuter the power, but that's true on both.

IIRC the FX's gear is lower 1st and 2nd gear, and higher 3rd, so carrying speed in 3rd on a moto track might be harder.

The FX is easier to ride in off-road situations. Since you ride Moto a majority of the time I would say it depends on what skill level you feel you are. The suspension is much softer on the FX. If you go big on jumps and charge into breaking bumps it’s going to be a bit soft. The transmission and ECU settings of the FX worked fine for me in Moto situations and certainly mellowed it out. But, with the “mellow” map Keefer put in my 450F, I got it mellowed out anyway and I still have the suspension settings for Moto. If you are a guy that doesn’t do huge jumps or really needs the Moto suspension then the FX may give you the best of both worlds. Plus it comes with the larger tank, kickstand, skid plate, and hand guards

Thanks for the information.  I'm currently riding a 2023 350 sxf  that I plan on keeping. I used to have a 2020 YZ 450F. I loved that bike! I was hoping the FX was more mellow, similar to my 2020 YZ. I rode the "magic map". I miss the KYB suspension and the ability to ride the bike in 3rd gear on the majority of the track. Plus at 57 years old I don't want or need a fire breathing beast. I liked the 23 YZ it just was too fast. That was with the stock map. I don't know how much that bike can  be detuned/mapped. That's why I was wondering if the FX might be a option as a mellower substitute that could be detuned/mapped similar to my old bike.

Yes, I believe it fits what you’re looking for. I had a blast on that bike
