Just paid the £50 duty on the pair of casings so they will be here tomorrow. Purchased the other NOS crank bearing for €20 + €8 postage from Germany. This same bearing at CMSNL is £50 excluding postage. Also got a new bearing puller/slide hammer set.

Well that's the rear hub painted and lacquered.  It will take a good few hours to dry off properly but at least it's done now. It will begin to dull slightly as the lacquer starts to dry.

Hub is dry to the point where you can pick it up. The satin black looks very nice. Ill give the inner hub a wipe down with thinners tomorrow. Just needs bearings, building and the tyres going on. My work on these wheels is more or less done now.

The old Merc is in for its MOT tomorrow so I'll ask the lads to swap out these rear wheel bearings while it's there. At least this box the casings came in can be used to post the hub to the wheel builder. I've got 2 rim-locks lined up which are 2.5. You can find the number you need for the rim-lock on the visible side of the wheel rim.

Well the rear bearings and spacer have been removed. The left bearing is far larger than the right, it's 16mm as you can see in the picture.

Part number is 09267-15001and price is about £75.

Just got a pair of rim-locks for the rear wheel. I'll get the left rear bearing next week and have the wheel built up the week after.

I've never used any kind of driver or press to get crank bearings in or out. If you turn the cases upside down and heat them up, then the bearings should drop out. When putting them back in just sit from over the hole straight, heat up the case again and they should just drop in. Same for any bearing really including wheel bearings on a stripped down hub.

These wheel bearings were in there, they weren't for coming out even with heat. As for the crank or case bearings I'm going to use heat and lift them out with the puller. One had literally dropped out already while on their way here.

Just got a genuine NOS clamp. Now there is one on the RM500 attached to the front sprocket cover that holds the airbox and breather pipe in place below the engine.cant find one on the schematics but they're also probably used for the 465. This one is in the shock schematic. I'm going to have a good look in the manual to double check where some of these parts fit correctly. This clamp was only £3.80p and was the last one available.

As you can see, this genuine unmolested RM500 example has the clamp.

Scored this today, had to leave the country to go and get it mind.

Guy was a genuine Suzuki hoarder, has a 400 twin shocker as well, and a 78 RM100 , which i would have loved too, and a few others, JR50 and an early RM80, but he has a business that is going to well to spend time dicking about with old bikes right now.

He purchased the bike from Huggy's a few years ago, and i think i actually took a picture of it, at Telford show in 2018/19, but back then wasnt buying yellow.

Its all there, some lovely NOS parts too, needs a good going through as it was thrown together , which i knew, but that was reflected in the price, need to source a tank , check all the electrics out .

Not gonna lie, this thread tipped me over the edge, my cheap fixer upper 125 was a great buy, but this will drag my fat ass round far better .

Motor is supposedly 'done' has a brand new piston, and bore , standard sized Wiseco 500 piston in her.

Only as i am typing this, i realise that it is in boxes already , and i didnt even sit on it.

Glad your chain bits turned up, i have a couple of sets away at the blasters , the ones on mine look wrong, maybe PE ones that retain the wheel, i will check them out tomorrow.

Sorry for jumping all over your thread, i will update mine, its not a competition , i am building a racebike and am not too precious about stuff , its great that you are putting in the attention to detail that i simply cant justify, as much as i would love to.

Just got 4 x M10 x 1.25 pitch nuts for the NOS chain adjusters. Only needed 2 so got a couple spare.  They're fitted with lock washers which I've already got.

I've purchased the (1981) Suzuki tank graphics. Just need the side panel and ignition box graphics to get now. Not much left to get for the tank now, just the frame cushion, front bolts, washers and spacers.

Still needs a tiny bit of work around the front mounts and below the ridge line. Should look smart with all the decals and a wipe down with a plastic conditioner.

Hi guys, well I've just aquired a large number of parts from CMSNL including the left hand rear bearing. Everything from tank to casing screws and spacers. Once this rear wheel bearing arrives the wheel can be built.

Well I've put one tank decal on and the top front below the cap does not fit well at all. It gathers around the top and even the front edge. The breathing holes on the edge don't help at all either. I used a Stanley knife blade to trim the decal, using a pen and the straight edge of some paper to mark it out. It looks ok, I'll do the other side a bit later.

My CMS parts have left the building and are now with FEDEX.  ETA 11th March. I need to find the colour match for the throttle casings, they're 2 tone, dark grey and black I think. I've ordered a new twist grip and new casing screws for it. All the tank hardware including a new pet-cock filter kit have also been ordered. The other engine mounting spacer I needed is also in the box including 8 new spacers for the front fender. The order completes the rear wheel hardware and the swing arm hardware as in the chain buffer nut and bolt. Just waiting on new brake pedal and hub springs.

It may not seem like I've done much at all but when you start with basically nothing and what you do have is a total wreck, creating something like this bike isn't a small job at all infact, it's a huge undertaking. It's one hell of a learning curve in motorbike restoration and building. This bike will have come to life from all 4 corners of the world.🌍

Gaz 🙂

Cheers, but I do have more time to look about or wait for stuff to show up, as well as working on it. You're using your bike and you need to turn it around as quickly as possible if you want it on the track. The main problem I've had really is acquiring huge amounts of parts I've never even had in the first place.  Its like a jigsaw puzzle only I've got to find and then restore the pieces before putting them all together.

This is the output shaft bearing.

I got the smaller stickers for mine, cover less of the tank, but might get the bigger ones if budget allows

Is it the same one as the stock Koyo from CMS? it looks very similar and the part number stamped on it seems the same, only there seems to be a lip or flange around the edge. Screenshot 20240306 230820 eBay.jpg?VersionId=SXNUVq AeBSuOQBKvcG7agQKwScreenshot 20240306 230407 Samsung Internet.jpg?VersionId=WaGl7n3u.dGZdIgyj0AVv
