Could Eli Tomac top MC's 72 wins?

Could he?  Yes...  

Will he?  (opinion) No.  

First, if he did race 3 more years, I don't see 7 wins per season.  Second, I don't see 3 more years coming.  He was ready to retire on the title last year.  If he wins it this year, he's done.  If he doesn't win it this year, but he's close, he might take another run at it next year, but that's it.  

All just my opinion...

Of course it's extremely tough!  I'm not saying it's a shoe-in.  My main point here is that so many people have talked about McGrath's 72 wins as impossible to match, along with Carmichael's outdoor championships.

But the truth is that records were made to be broken, and the Supercross all time wins record is within reach for Eli.

Chances are that winning 7x per season will get progressively more difficult.  So, let's say Eli wins 7 this year.  Can he repeat next 2 years?  It's a tall order, but definitely possible.  And that's to tie. He'll need to make up one more somewhere in order to take the crown.

I hope he goes for it, and I hope he succeeds.

I believe McGrath's 7 championships will stand for a while.  I don't see Eli racing and winning 6 more seasons.
