im bored at work... MP3 uses a form of lossy data compression. the benifit is reduced file size and reduced transmission bandwidth, the bad part though, you are getting the codec interpretation based on an algorithms of the sounds after it eliminates redundant data, does prediction ect. The problem is, mp3 is not designed for real time audio.... as in it wasnt designed nor intended to archive as a sound is being created. Its designed to look at sound data in front and behind the "now" and compress, eliminate, ect and it uses linear prediction to do it. So if there is nothing for it to predict because you are still creating the sounds (nothing to look at coming up to base prediction on), it cant... hence.. audio webcasts are saved as wav files typically. (depending on what software you are using. Windows Media Encoder uses wma files. Nullsoft ShoutCast uses wav)
