MIKE METZGER “THE GODFATHER” TESTS IN A PRO 2 AT CRANDON IN HOPES OF COMPETING IN CORR IN 2007
Newport Beach (August 23, 2006)—Mike Metzger, “The Godfather” of freestyle motocross, got behind the wheel of a CORR Pro 2 truck for the first time as he pursues his goal of competing in Championship Off Road Racing in 2007. Metzger, known for his daring stunts in freestyle motocross, test drove Rhonda Kontizer’s Baldwin Racing Pro 2 truck during a test day at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway on August 14th.
Metzger attended rounds nine and ten of the CORR Lucas Oil Racing Series in Bark River, Michigan with his wife Mandi, before heading to Crandon. Although he test drove an 800 horsepower Pro 2, Metzger says he hopes to compete in a Pro Lite next year. “I’m going to take baby steps,” he said.
Now a husband and father of two, Metzger has expressed his desire to compete with the safety of a roll cage around him. He has broken several bones throughout his motocross career.
Metzger recently set a distance record for jumping the fountains at Cesar’s Palace in Las Vegas while performing a backflip. He was also the first person to complete back-to-back backflips at the X-games.
