The wolf debate is a part of a larger issue and that is the re-wilding of the land. This utopian view where there is no or very little hunting, no dams and no cattle grazing. Putting everything back to the way it was. For folks who are 100% behind this, the effects of this vision on humans, the people who live in these areas, should be ignored or minimalized through biased studies.
The rancher or hunter who has lived on the land his whole life should be treated with a condescending smirk. For how can he know more then a person working in government a couple hundred miles away who got a degree in environmental studies and now thinks they know everything about wildlife in an area they have never lived?
I rarely give a thumbs-up to Bill_Carroll, but this is one time!

I’ve got no issue with an attempt to reintroduce a species that we eradicated thru our own ignorance & false legends…that we brought with us from the old continent.
IF & WHEN one of those wolves causes legitimate damage to someone’s heard(s)…be it sheep, cattle…whatever…? They need to be reimbursed at current (same quarter) On The Hoof/Market Rates. It’s that simple.
Beyond all that, I hope each and every one of you has an amazing and very Merry Christmas and a New Year that is beyond your wildest dreams.
It may not be the “cool” thing to say these days; but, I’ll be praying for all the insanity in the Ukraine, Gaza & Israel…and other conflicted locales around the planet that we seldom hear of…I’ll be praying for all of that to end and for peace to be the mindset.

WHEN the wolves cause damage it is paid for right out of tax payers pockets.
These wolves will cost the state of Colorado MILLIONS of dollars and will also make some attorneys very very rich in the process as there is bound to be many court battles coming as the goal posts continually move regarding the goals of recovery.
This is not to mention that these wolves have been reintroduced into a world they never lived in with massive freeways and highways separating their range. Not to mention all the development of cities and housing that sits on the land the wolves once called home.
It’s just a mess that nobody needed except a few folks who like to sit at home and fantasize about how wolves exist now….while their day to day pampered suburb lives are never affected one bit. And it’s laughable to think any of them will ever even see a wolf in the wild.
It’s funny, none of these wolf lovers want Grizz in their back yard though. The “rewilding” talk seems to slow down once they know their kids could be a meal anytime they go outside the house. Some of you will think that’s an exaggeration….those of us that live and spend copious amounts of time in Grizz country know that it’s not.
So Mr. Carrol, can we also send some Grizz to your backyard since you are passionate about intact ecosystems?
