ok so today started off fine. until i got into a car accident. which turned out to not be so bad after all but still sucks. then the landlord comes home to tell me the check i wrote him on the first of the month he got back in the mail. checked my statement says it came out on the 18 but then went back into my account on the 21st called wells fargo to see what was up. they said i didnt have enough fund to cover the check which is crap cuz i deposited 1500 i saved up for christmas shopping so i wouldnt have to worry about no be able to get my family gifts for the holidays. so now im stuck with having to give him cash for rent that i dont have. so my question is if anyone can help me out in anyway possible so i dont end up out on the streets itd be greatly appreciated. i can have you paid back by the fifteenth at the latest.

Don't you have a checking account, that you can do either an electronic transfer or cash withdraw from?

Maybe I am missing something, or your landlord is playing games.

originally started out giving my landlord cash when i first moved in until the maid stole it when i left it in a enevelope sitting on the dining room table for him. so he wanted me to start writing him checks. i check my statement it all checks out the check was with drawn from my account on the 18 then re depsoited back into my account on the 21st due to non sufficient funds. which like i stated previous is bogus because i deposited 1500 on top on what i got paid on the first. wells fargo has no desire to help me out so thats why i am here today. i am not trying to be a begger or anything i just happen to be in a really tight spot right now. and the people who have seen me around here since i joined know i wouldnt do this unless i really needed the help

I was a young man with a wife and a baby daughter in a situation like yours once upon a time. I pawned what I could to put food on the table and a roof over our heads. I'm not trying to put you down in any way shape or form but a pawn shop is there for a reason. Good luck 441.

Have you showed your landlord what the bank did? Where did your 1500 go? When the money was put back in your account where did it go? Sounds like Wells fargo has some explaining to do provided you have the deposit tickets to prove your story. Good Luck.

Seems fishy.... if you had it in your account (but bank messed it up) you should be able to write another check for cash...

When you deposit a big check in your account most banks hold it for a while to make sure it clears before you see the money in your account. As far as your landlord goes I can't imagine you couldn't work something out with him and tell him you will pay him on the 15th "with interest". Your deposited check will probably clear long before that and you could have paid him before the 15th (plus the interest you promised) so he wouldn't have a problem letting you slide in the future knowing you would be good for your word and he could make a little extra in the deal.

Hmmm. Banks are usually pretty helpful to make changes if it was really their fault. My CU mis charged a $440 e-check from a Dentist I've never been to. I didn't notice for three months, called the bank and everything was fixed within an hour. I think it depends on what type of customer you are, I can deposit the funds in an ATM and get instant access. No holds whatsoever, but if you're the bouncing and late payment type I doubt they afford you that opportunity.

Really as a single E-1 to E-4 you would be much better off living on post for FREE in the barracks. Hell, I lived in the barracks from when I was an E-1 up to an E-6.

Live in the Barracks, get yourself a meal card and eat for free in the mess hall. Then you will have all kinds of fricken money, you will have so much money you won't know what to do with it.

Seriously, what the hell are you doing living off post?

You have a choice of living in free housing?

How much (ballpark) does someone like that make? Because if he's in Southern Cal., making less than 40-50k it's going to be a week-to-week deal...

i have no choice but to live out on the economy. we cant live on LAX thatd just be retarded and a hazzard to our safety and health. so we get about 1650 for an allowance for housing.

Unless he is stationed somewhere that doesn't have on post housing, as a single E-1 to E-6 you can live in the barracks for FREE.

Now, if for some reason they do not have on post housing (maybe it is a coastie thing) then you get payed a monthly housing allowance based on the zip code you are stationed in, but as a single E-1 to E-4 that might get you a run down 1970's era single wide mobile home in a really nice area for that amount Smile

Hey 441, looks like you opened up a can of worms. Not trying to be a dick, but everybody here has a valid point, I was in desert storm and there was no place for me to live, I made so much money I took the whole family to the Islands for two weeks. Time to cut your losses and shut her down. Happy New year, and thank you for the work that you do.
