Rumor has it that The Florida Series in done and that a new player is picking up their pieces and scheduling a new series. Race schedule should be announced in approx two weeks.
10 Races
5 tracks
National sized trophies (5ft)
Local (Fl) contingencies worth approx $10,000

Always good to have some new blood promoting here. Looks like Dean did a great job with the South Florida MX Series, closer to home base for him. Some really great tracks too, hopefully they get to work with Forest Glen. Just saw where Hard Rock lost their make up race to Forest Glen (FTR Series). Being Jason Baker built the track I'm sure there's gonna be a lot of interest especially after it's got an LL Area Qualifier there not having been open a month yet!

I agree it would be nice to see some new blood. Hard rock would be great for the new series, I hope they work out something with them.

Can you give any names and dates?

Sorry for the asking for the facts. The thread did start with the word "Rumor".

The Florida Series he speaks of is probably the one Dean Dyess ran. He has gone in a different IMHO better direction being involved with the Seminole Indian Tribe and having the "South Florida Series". Even though those tracks are a 2+ hr trip for us we'll do some races with them.

This Florida Series: http://www.floridaseries.com/

teggers: names and dates are being work on as we speak

Doublezero: Done meaning the group staring a new series has recognized that Dean has moved on to the south Florida series. Notice that he (Dean) has not scheduled a series yet. He has Reddick as his first race, but who wouldn't 2 weeks before the area qualifier. a bunch of money to be made that week. He has the south FL series now and has a bunch of scheduling issues that are not coming together. His racer number are low due to the fact the racers get nothing in return. (remember still has no banquet from last year yet!) He spent the money!

For a guy in NY, you seem to have a big interest in and knowledge of Florida MX

if you're actually in NY, right?

No I live here now, originally from NY.

I just wish Florida had disctricts like we have up north.

What happened with that?

Here is what I have in the past 2 years here in Florida:

Gold Cup & Winter Ams Best racers in the south probably the best in the country / Negatives: You don't get shit from this guy just a bigger plaque for racing the entire 6 week series.

Dade City: Best Local racing in the country, But this guy is a real asshole. He give a bunch back that helps his cause.

South Florida Series: Tries to compete with the Gold cup & Winter Ams = stupid, would have done much better competing against Dade City. The turnout is tuff because they will not go against Gatorback or Reddick and try to compete against the rest of the AMA races.

Fl/GA series = Just another series were nobody shows up

Districts up north are no different. Politics is a bitch.

True, but having the AMA in place seems to keep promoters a little more honest.

AMA has NEVER had a stronghold in Florida or been effective. Many times they've tried to establish and encourage "District 8 racing" throughout Florida, which has always failed.

I don't want to get into the politics and the whole race promo stuff but I just think that anyone that races or rides in south florida owes at least some respect for Dean Dyess. The guy has been around for a long time and has tried to help give us tracks to ride and places to race. I'm not big into going to the races anymore but they work really hard and put in the hrs. to make it all happen. thanks

The South Florida Series does not "try" to compete with the Gold Cup and Winter Am's. South Florida riders were begging to have a series in South Florida. A series they could participate in, without traveling 4, 5 and 6 hours to every race in a different series. That is all there is to it...

The series had no problem filling the gates. Nothing stupid about it...

Nothing wrong with having multiple series running at the same time. Florida is a big state. Why are you always trying to find the negative in Florida Racing...?

He seems to bag on Dean an awful lot
That is what I find interesting

and both Doublezero and Guzzler are correct

flarider: Dave, not really baging. Let 's get your opinion, he still has not had the banquet for last year yet.. Take it a step further go to his site and let me know when the banquet is. Nothing huh. Ok now Yoho has just put out his schedule for next year and guess what he has already announced his banquet date. And maybe he has been around a long time but he runs the Fl Series like SHIT.

Let me guess, you have backed his series for years donating engine ice. hoping that WE will continue to use it. Well no wonder you won't stop sucking his nuts.

Double zero: I understand were you are coming from but I disagree. Gold cup & winter ams should bring out the best in the entire south east. shit, with your theory we should do a southeast national the same time as LL so that have to drive so far.

I support a lot of races, series' and banquets nationwide, and have done so for years, I suppose I am sucking their nuts too? Nice try

How about you ask Dean what is up with the banquet, rather than bagging on it here?
If it was for last years series, it's obviously not going to happen, huh? Why? I dunno, how about you ask Dean?
I do know that for the South Florida Series, they had a banquet at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Banquet halls, and I was told it was a nice event.

Where did I mention South FL Banquet?
Ask Dean? Been there, what's next? Oh maybe talk about it on a internet site
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

So at least bag on him a little for not having or announcing a banquet when you get your mouth off his nuts.

I don't forget all your wise ass remarks by the way. Go back and look.

The Florida Series Banquet is always held shortly before the first round of the next season. By the time the series is over the Gold Cup, Mini O's, holidays and Winter Am's take up most available weekends. On the website it says the banquet will be in Jan before the South Fl Series.

12/30/2009 3:48pm
so let me see , hes trying to attract riders to a new series, ok so bashing other series and or promoters is ok? seems like all your worried about/interested in is a banquet.

No, not just worried about the banquet but I find it difficult to do his series again when I am still waiting on a banquet from series that ended in August.
Really am I the only one who thinks that this is ok.
Did you hear me the series ended in August.

You have the right to disagree, however, for someone "in the know", you have not done your research very well.

Have you talked to the majority of the folks here is South Florida? Not everyone who puts their leg over a bike has the desire to qualify for LL's. Your comment regarding the SE National is ridiculous. People race and stay close to home, so what? This has nothing to do with LL's or any National for that matter.

My comment is NOT a theory, it is fact.

Bellone> who really cares about a banquet? what did you win? did you do something great and want to feel like a kid again and think your important. Did you have big dreams about your speach at the banquet? Just move on and get over it. Just be glad that you have what you have and you've done whatever you've done. If they hold a banquet good if not move on.

Its a banquet....seriously....your upset? It isn't like you get a million dollars. I mean what do you get now days? Can of lube and a free pit board?
