To be honest, I don't get all the whining from Ferrandis. "As a US citizen I might have the chance to race MXoN again". Sheesh. He was part of the team last year, in 2018 and in 2014. It's not like they ignore him every year.
Febvre and Renaux (assuming he's close to his regular form come MXoN) are just the better riders at the moment
Yeah i gotta say that was just weird. Nobody can say that it's outrageous to pick Renaux instead of Ferrandis, they are almost equals at this point.
I would have to think this frustration comes from him being in a bad place for a 2024-> ride.
Exactly! It's not like he is dominating like Jett, so why would you expect to be chosen every year? France wants to win and I think they choose the best team to do that.

Plus to add, Ferrandis will be racing on Sept 23rd in the USA. That will only give him 1-2 weeks to go to Europe and train and get ready. I think it makes more sense to take someone who is already in Europe and used to the track and conditions.
Plus to add, he likely won't have a motorcycle to race
DF 14 has had a terrible year . Can't understand why he d be upset. I do believe it has been alot to do with the bike . Unless he is riding a different brand. I would nt have him on the team.
Yup the bike problem will probably be worse at Ernee. If he can't get the bike to work in 4 months of riding on tracks that he knows and the team has data on, it's not going to be any better when he goes to Ernee
If we ran this race 100 times, France would win between 60 and 70 of them. But on one day, anything can happen.
His last 12 motos are 7 - 3rds and 2 seconds 2 - 5ths and a 9th. A couple coming from last... behind Jett and Chase who "could" be the 2 fastest guys in MX today.
Renaux? Last 12 are mostly DNS and 7-6 3-13. Today, Ferrandis would be the better choice. But if Renaux comes to form, that's a different story.
I would say the reason Ferrandis wasn't chosen is his current contract situation. What bike would he ride and who would support him?

a winning team
Before you get crucified, Cooper can't race because of his wedding, and no Anderson because Kawi won't support it.
So probably looking at AP, JB and RJ (if Deegan rumors are true and Sexton is in the middle of bike switch). For sure a B team, but they would not skimp on effort. Maybe a podium if things went well? Would be pleasantly shocked if this team won.
If DF was riding to the full of his ability he should be up with chase and Jett every race . There has been races where he is 30 second s behind in 3 rd , He has nt been good this year . Renaux was really good start of the year. . He is coming back from injury. But has a month to get back to full speed. I d also say he is great on hard pack track s .
Switzerland confirmed: Seewer, Guillod and Tonus.
It's weird with Germany this year. Kenny has been nominated earlier this year but nobody knows if he will be up since there is a WSX round (unless it gets canceled) aswell between the SMX final and the MXON. Jacobi underwent surgery this month to fix his complicated shoulder injury and won't ride until next year.
If I had to guess it will be Nagl (Mxgp), Koch (Open), Längenfelder (Mx2). That would be a solid team but with Kenny it would be very strong, Nagl is very fast this year and Längenfelder has multiple Mx2 overalls this year. They probably wait for Kenny right now.
German Motocross is in a bad situation it seems. Depending on a very limited number of people that seem to lose their enthusiasm. The federation is doing a horrible job with communication, innovation and attracting people to take responsibility.

I've been thinking a lot about how much better the Swiss team could be if Tonus didn't retire, not sure how he's been doing as of late but that seems like a pretty solid team.
Tonus has been semi active again. He just won the Swiss Open title yesterday. He won pretty much all races this year except for one race where Rubini lined up. Did the Swiss GP and went 13-DNF. It's not Prime Tonus, but I think he'll be solid. Ernée should be good for Guillod as well.
Just to be clear Václav Kovář will be running on 450 4-stroke in Erneé unlike the 300 2smoke he runs this whole season.
I would have had Mewse on the 250 and Gilbert in open. Either way they're not going to set the world on fire.
Unfortunately not, probably not the best team possible either. At this point would rather a comfortable Searle than a struggling Watson lol.
Totally.
Simpson still injured?

I hope that 450 lasts all race weekend in France, not like his 300 2T in Loket..
