The latest issue of Motorcycle Racing Action said Chad from Tomahawk is close to getting a lease on Mountaineer and re-opening it! That would be really cool.

I know a few people from here used to ride there.

I heard it was leased for only a short time to host a few District 7 races.

Hopefully he changes the layout. It was an OK practice track but was pretty tight for racing.

It's about 20 min. south of the exit to Tomahawk on I-81.

If you go north from Winchester, VA., it's just over the WV line (Tabler Station road exit).

Used to be a pretty good track but closed down a couple years back.

If you go way down South 81 near Staunton there is a new track set to open soon (Fishersville).

Mountaineer was awesome before the reversed the track a few years ago.Was probably one of the best tracks in the NE.

From what I heard, one of Chad's relatives own the bank that has ownership of Mountaineer. Mountaineer is on the 2010 MAMA schedule, as well. I hear that the track is going to be much better next year.

Actually it makes sense that they wouldn't hold practice there because it would pull business from Tomahawk.
