I would consider the Ktm 150sx if your just riding for fun! I don't think I've ever smiled bigger than riding a ktm 150.. It's like a 125 but with just enough bottom end power that you can be lazy and have fun. A 125 you can't really be lazy and have fun.

Hello all,

New to the forum

Recently picked a late run 23' for my son who was moving up from a supermini.  I was really interested in this bike for the Fi linear power delivery for his first full sized bike.  The bike has not disappointed so far.  I have several friends who were early adopters and had a litany of issues and blown up bikes.  I think most of this due to the missing Crank Position Sensor Bracket.

We are coming up on 30hrs and have had very few issues.  Had to reset the TPS and clear the ECU once around 26hrs and thats about it.  First spark plug lasted 26hrs and I probably could've left it but went to the 9 heat.

I know many have had issues and my understanding is the weak points are the harness and CCP sensor.  Nothing new for KTM on the CCP Sensor.

Its not as fast as the carbed bikes but thats what we were after so no issues there.  Chassis and suspension are great IMO and my son loves it.  It has catapulted his skill and confidence in 2 mos which is what I was after.  We looked at it as a transitioning (to full sized) bike.  He already wants a 250f in the barn now too lol.

I do hope KTM does something for those who've struggled w this model...time will tell.

I own a 2018 ktm sx 125 and its a fantastic bike. Good power, very reliable and just a modern 2 stroke.

Since you are in US, get the 2017. The 2016 has the 4cs fork and the 2017 has the far superior AER air fork.

I would get the 18 or later, the outer fork tubes are 100 grams lighter each and allow for more flex on the light chassis.
