The Suspension of your precious bike is build by picture this view let’s say at  100% completed finished kit..

the first 1% of the 99% is build by retards and I’m not joking actual retards. Like oil the rings etc and pass it on. That’s their only job at least they work at KTM so that’s cool. Nobody else want that job 😂

the next person adds these to the product ,incl the sims  these are regular normal people with no technical background soccer moms working at that stage the suspension is build like for 10% and passing it on to the next one.

you got a dude behind a machine adding ( don’t know the name)  the piece you place your wheel in underneath the forks. That’s his only job when that’s finished a person next to him adds the spring and fill it with oil.

and a next person puts it in a test machine where the suspension gets pressed in and out for several times then a red or yellow or green lights goes on a red means this shock has a serious problem yellow means try again maybe it’s nothing. Green light suspension is ok.. you would never imagine how many fuck ups they make. I worked at the end of the line quality  control to make up for their screw ups. I could take it all apart and build it back together and figure out what the problem was.  I loved that job  tough and I still feel sick I left.  But I choose my family 😞.. cause I’m no Austrian I got that job because it went from WP holland where it all started to KTM Austria worked there for almost 2 years and went home and when you have a deadline yeah sometimes a suspension with yellow light goes trough and still pisses me off somebody gets that on his bike

No worries, I thought it was ironic as you were calling others who work there morons haha.  I'd never make fun of someone for trying to talk outside their native language, quite the opposite.

Assembling the same parts over and over is a far cry from tuning suspension to work how a specific rider wants it to work.

Are you trying to say these assembly line workers are the same skill level as the people tuning the suspension for Factory KTM race team?

I just wanna know who Coop had tune his shit....I'd bet it's not this Powerband Bro or he wouldn't be in this thread trying to insinuate it was him Tongue

Its the same craft you only need theory for different setup settings  when you ride it’s easy to learn and work on it if you know the basic

Stock suspension with FC valving in it.  this is not a guess either. I could know something some one, and at this point I don't think anyone in coops camp cares if everyone knows he had some FC stuff at the races....

From what I heard, the biggest problem was something in the suspension broke

My company car and bikes you can see the license plate is from Austria, my own bike was a Honda and always got bullied about it,  my only response was make KTM cheaper and more reliable 🥳.  So suspension setup ain’t a big deal if you love to work on your bike and got the right toolset that is  a big deal you can’t buy that stuff at Walmart

Its amazing how so many people can speak multiple languages.  Americans like myself can only speak one language.  I'm jealous of the ability to speak more than one language.  Some Americans do respect the ability, I don't think he meant anything by it though.

Believe me at school I sucked at German it just didn’t work for me to understand it.

then I started working there and you have no other choice, then learn by listening ,  it’s crazy how that much easier it gets when you want to communicate with people.

English was easier because of tv movies and computer stuff. I learned allot playing mx games online with Americans..and for me personally the only language you need to learn is English this is why people from Germany screw up every thing gets translated, and at KTM nobody speaks English it’s a shame really.. And sorry Dv the French people are even worse then german people. You’re still my favorite though 😅

I agree with with you.

Infact, I started doing my own stuff because the folks I paid to do it missed the mark over and over. And when I'd bring it back to them for a adjustment..they would get irked. So, I said forget this.... Took the forks apart, pulled the shim stacks out and measured them... laid it out in an excel spread sheet. Had a 15 min conversation with a friend about concepts around valving stacks (he ran the powersports division at a well known shock company) and I never have needed anyone else to do it for me. Yes, lots of trial and error. Learning about what feel I like, and how to get it. Changing simple things like a pivot shim size..than riding it and feeling the difference. Did it do what I expected? Than when close how to dial it in even closer with small changes... one or two shims. And feeling the effects of those subtle changes. Did it do what I expected? So now I know what buttons to push. I actually use a lot of 15 thickness shims in my shock stacks.

But to your point... what I like someone else may hate.

Not to be a dick, and maybe I'm taking your posts the wrong way, but dude you are coming across like a complete arrogant ass. Like...

Yeah of course there are hacks and people taking advantage, but there is no simple secret sauce. If you are so good at this incredibly simple theory of dirt bike suspension, start your own company and drive all the others out of business.

I worked at KTM Factory as suspension mechanic, let me tell you the people who build these market shocks are not brilliant your neighbor can do that work, the A shocks are build by the same guy who lives next door. Some people ride mx but most people don’t. So when you’re interested it’s easy to work on. And to change your settings you only need good tools. The pro equipment is build by people with allot of experience but again it’s not difficult it’s just high end stuff you can’t use for your own bike. The difficult task lays at people who think it out. And how to make it better everyday. But the build proces is a peace of cake
