Nice, Dave is a bit of a magician with the metal. The DG frames were pretty flimsy back then as my original one had been cobbed together in quite a few areas. It also took some major surgery by some skilled XR gurus to straighten it all up.

Even worse were the original PK frames. Looked like something fabbed and welded in a junior high shop class. Lots of room for improvement.

I raced one of those in the northwest and I think it was the first one around. My Dad built it from a box of parts he purchased after a fire at someone's house. The little bike was mostly gone so he bought a DG mono frame and started over. I raced it about 2 years until I was to big and almost 15 years old.
Dad had a little motorcycle shop called Rowland Specialties in Auburn Washington.
We restored the bike about 9 years ago and still have it.(color Photo)
In the Puyallup Raceway photo our bike had a very rare Aluminum DG Pipe.(1976)

Man I still love XR's, as that was my gateway to interest in the sport.
I don't have any pictures, but I saw that bike ripping several times back in the day.
Perhaps Phil Sr. can give you some info on the mods they used and what c.c. size.
Mine was a 110, but paper-thin 115's were rumored to exist. Looking at you Tammy Jo Kirk....

That frame looks great Joseschopshop! You need to get that thing rolling. I will give you a tip on the front end.
The 1983 Honda Cr80 front forks bolt on perfectly. The dimensions of the steering stem and bearings are the same.
Our little racer was sold and we recovered it years later in boxes. The Ceriani long travel forks and larger front wheel were gone. The Krober CDI was not working and all the fenders and plastic parts were cracked and broken. The exhaust pipe was rusted out from water sitting in it. So I decided to keep it a big wheel mini racer and found a complete front end on Ebay cheap. The rear wheel and brake from a 83' CR80 fits well also with some spacer mods. We used 1974 XR75 seat, tank, rear fender and number plates. I remember Phil racing that bike but I don't have any pictures of it.
I found this picture of Mike Larson on a mono shock XR75 and I'm pretty sure it was big brothers first but not sure the tank paint is what was on it when Phil raced it. Good luck with your build!

What's a xr75 worth in fair condition, running? Might have an opportunity to pick one up.

In the U.K. they are pretty expensive now, running £1000. Tidy £1600 and mint builds over £3k. I have owned quite a few over the years and am sort of looking for another.

Bill, I still to this day remember you ad you're dad And the real nice shop, Rowland Specialties,  I remember it all.  I had moved up there in about 1975 with my PK engine and bike  82 cc  web cam, stock cam tower non needle bearing, 22 carb all ok except a stock ignition , amd stock cam tower , I should have had youre dad go thru my bike and upgrade the ignition and cam tower.

Great times S.I.R. then  Puyallup, great times.
