If it's under 250 grams in weight (I think the number is 250grams) You're not affected by any regulations.

I have the mavic mini.

From what I understand, if you’ll use it to make money, 107 is still required.

That’s how I understand it, too.

Pretty sure that any ‘commercial’ use needs a license, like you are saying.

We had a promotional video shot nearly 2 years ago at our plant. The guy doing the video didn’t think that he’d be needing any drone shots so he left it at his studio. At the end of the session he said that he wished he would have brought it so I offered to let him use mine, thinking it was just a small, personal drone. He ended up using it but he went to his truck to make sure that he had his documentation with him because he’d been questioned about it before. He was pretty clear that if it there’s anything commercial that could be attached, you’d better have your FAA paperwork ready.

Looks like anything commercial is regulated no matter what you fly

From Uncle Google,

Is it worth getting a Part 107 license?

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has the authority to issue you a fine if you are flying under Part 107 rules without being licensed. Although enforcement actions from the FAA are rare, having a Part 107 could be important from a legal and liability perspective if anything goes wrong during a flight .Feb 21, 2022

Thank you! I’m looking forward to trying it out. Got an event Wednesday if it gets here in time, paid the expedited shipping, and another Saturday to try it out on.

Guess, I’ll be an air pirate until I can get the 107.

I'm still not a very good drone pilot but I think I'll get mine up in the air today.

Unfortunately I won’t be able to record with it until Saturday. Had to order a couple of 128gb Sandisk ExtremePlus SD cards.

The joys of living in the boondocks, you can’t just run out and get them.

Batteries are charging now, I’m going to try and fly it tonight!

Atta boy!

I don't need real time reports, just reports.

What branch did you serve us in?

I don't want to insult if I feel like spouting some of my Dad's gems.

Army, Navy, DOD, DOE, DHS. Oh, I take interservice insults like a champ. 😎

Hahahaha!

Copied.

So Dad was a Marine Fighter pilot in the 50's, so you can imagine what life was like for me, and what interservice was about for him.

Even though he was classified as a Naval Aviator, in the right situation, he'd slam the Navy.

Thanks for taking care of us.
