Hey guys,

So I stumbled upon the VitalMX forum a couple times and I've seen that there is a great amount of FMXers actively communicating and sharing all kinds of stories. I wanted to take this opportunity to share something personal with you, so I just created an account in order to post here. I do hope it doesn't get categorized as spam, I'm just giving it a shot. Here's what it's all about:

I'm Jordi, 28 years old, and a designer from Germany. I am fascinated about FMX since my childhood and everything that happened around it. I noticed that although there are some books about FMX, none of them tell the full story of this lifestyle that changed the lives of so many people and shaped an entire generation of motocross riders. This is why I started a personal project: A high quality, beautifully designed coffee table book about the history and evolution of FMX.

What's gonna be in it?

It's going to cover the beginnings in the hills of California, it's prime time in the 2000s and the global evolution over time until today. It'll include the stories of the pioneers and the absolute legends who not only created FMX, but also progressed it further every year and made it to what it has become — riders, photographers, filmmakers, event organizers, ramp and track builders, magazine owners, yard owners and more. The big picture.

What will it contain?

First and foremost, the stories of the riders, told by themselves. I'm giving my absolute best and using every platform there is to reach out to all the riders who had an impact on FMX. Since the beginning of this year, I talked to many legendary and supportive people like Kenny Bartram, Seth Enslow, Trevor Vines, Dana Nicholson, Busty Wolter and more.

Some of the most influential photographers like Frank Hoppen, Garth Milan, Nick Ciotti, Frank Galante and more shared exclusive photography from their archives with me or showed their support for the future of this project. Other riders like Doug Parsons, Edgar Torronteras, Dayne Kinnaird, Ailo Gaup and Adam Jones are with me as well. But I'm still at the very tip of the Iceberg. My list of people is still insanely long, and it's going to take lots of time and effort to bring them all together.

What's the plan for the book?

I do give my very best to make this book as beautiful and high quality as possible in terms of design, storytelling, use of photography and functionality. I'm talking letterpress printing, using interactive elements that bring the printed book to life and more.

I am also working on a concept to make it a crowdfunding campaign right before it goes into production. The funds will be used to not only produce the book, but also to compensate the great amount of people who shared decades of their work with me, trusting me beforehand — something that I'll never take for granted. But even if it's not going to be a success in terms of funding, I need to bring this thing to life.

As of right now, I'm still getting started. I'm building the storylines, getting the connections and bringing the people together.

In order to keep people informed about what's going on in the project, I set up a little newsletter, where I'm planning to share project updates once a month. If you're generally interested, feel free to sign up for it (for free) through the following link:

https://breu.design/newsletter-en

This is a huge thing for me and I hope I can use this opportunity to preserve the history of this lifestyle — not only as an education for the new generation, but also as a printed time capsule to relive the most epic times in FMX.

Wish you guys all the best, let's keep in touch.

Jordi

Great stuff,

You must include a section about the late Jono Porter, if you try and reach out to his family via Facebook and find out some stories and Information. He was one of the first to backflip and was a Factory rider winning races here aswell as the best freestyle rider in the country at the same time.

Adam Kamenek from fmx australia .com has many great photos,

I feel his story is so important to fmx and to never be forgotten.

I can help with any other info if you wish to email me:
