I'm treating my older brother to the final round in Salt Lake City on a VIP trip. It's a combination spend time with my bro who lives 1000+ miles away and a chance to let him see my world. problem is he has not spent his life eating & sleeping motorcycles like I have. As kids my dad always took us to the Pontiac Supercross, now my brother takes his kids every couple years to the SX in Detroit so he's not unaware of the sport but the best ever to him is still Bob Hannah. lol
He's asking me to catch him up on the current goings on, any suggestions? I don't want to overload him, just give him a 10,000 foot view.
Sounds like you really just have to catch him up on the who's who in SX. Give him a rundown on the top 10, personal favorites, and a few of the dark horses. Go early to walk the pits and help him familiarize himself with the top guys, fast guys, LCQ champs, and "the popular kids" etc. Grab a program and watch timed qualifying, to see who's looking sporty. Then I always go eat after that and come back and settle in for the night show with popcorn and snacks....
I'm an RC fan, but your brother might not be all that wrong about Bob Hannah.
If he watched racing more back in the day, you can create a connection by doing a compare/contrast with former/current riders, equipment, and rivalries. That's what I do with my Dad who stopped following MX/SX when we stopped racing. BTW, Hannah is his measuring stick too.
By your title I thought you were talking about Chase Sexton!
I’ll see myself out..
