Damn that seems kind of F'ed up considering the importance of their role in the whole thing.  Do they have to eat the extra expense of crossing the country twice now ? The teams don't cover transportation and lodging ?  What about feb 18th or other off weeks, are they off the payroll those weekends too ?  I guess I figured those guys were contracted for the season the same as the riders, and not so much piece price like your saying. Ouch...

I would find it very hard to believe that any mechanic or support staff on a "real" team will be missing any paychecks or living on the street over one postponed round.

Dudes getting a couple hundred a week to live in a van with a Privateer, well who knows I guess.

If these dudes knew what it took to get established in a good job in the film industry they'd be happy with that they have to deal with.

All I needed was a big pecker.

My main reason is that the race would have been pointless. Mud covered by a foot of standing water can not be made into a track, let alone rideable with more rain coming down. But us Cali girls aren't as badass as you Brits. So what do I know about the conditions living near the stadium?

Dude even Bruno who is 10 times more hardcore than you and everyone else saying to run the race said he wouldn't go if they raced.

Just read a story about a very young boy being swept away and still missing after his Mom drove through a creek over the road on their way to school.

Decided to delete some of my comments.

Best of luck to the Nor Cal folks, hopefully it lets up some soon.

Has it been raining much/at all in SD? Chances of a wet race there?

He is a Norcal legend for sure, the Pitstop at Hollister had all kinds of his memorabilia. But 1987 was a different time. A majority of fans now are into the actual show, production, and big jumps...hell, sadly some are hoping to see a big crash. The casual fans won't be getting that and definetly will not be sitting in the rain for 3 hours to see the best riders in the world struggling just to keep their bike up right. It's mind blowing to think that anyone would want to go watch a Supercross, and then to think they would be happy with an oval mud pit marked off by cones and no jumps? For 3 hours? In the pouring rain? Let's  use some common sense on this.
