Rear suspension fix

My buddies son has a kx 250f o7 mod. He bought the Pro circt. spring for the rear and front suspension. The book was exellent for the front but the rear is not even mentioned. I took the bottom clevis off no problem but I didnt have the spring yet so I left it. I came back a few hours later and the adjusting clicker and a bunch of oil was on the floor. What did I do and how do I fix it.

Not good!!! You do not take a shock apart that way...find a local suspension shop and hope you can pay them to fix it.

To correctly remove a spring you loosen the lock collar and then loosen the spring collar so there is no tension on the bottom. Then pull the ring down and there is a clip under it you remove and then the spring will slide up and off the shock body. To fix your issue, thread the clevis back on and ensure there is 22-23 clicks on the rebound adjuster and then tighten the locknut to it. You will need to rebuild the shock now because you've leaked oil.
