Just received my health insurance renewal from Blue cross Blue shield.
They had no claims from me or my family this past year, just well visits which they pay about $10.00 a piece for.
My premium goes up 27% effective Oct 1.
Bastards.

Ask Ron Paul what he thinks, but just don't hope to find any consistency of thought from one thing to the next.
If you can't afford health insurance, you die. There are worse things...and everyone is going to do it some day anyway....No reason for the government to ruin the country trying to fix it, when it isn't their responsibility to fix it in the first place, and all they're really doing is prolonging the inevitable (death).
This country could probably use some "thinning of the flock" anyway...natural selection or whatever Darwin called it...the weak, geneticaly deficient, and sick will die...the healthy, and strong will live and reproduce and pass their strong genetics to their offspring thus resulting in a healthier human race.
OK....
and this is something you genuinely believe and that you, in your faith, believe is good and true?
Let's see, if the government would take a minute and ............
Vicious endless cycle created by?
Progress is not
When will people ever learn.
I don't believe anyone is going to die in the street...Are people dying in the street right now, when we don't have a government healthcare option? No...so they wont' be if the government does nothing.
And this has absolutelyl NOTHING to do with my faith. Not a thing. So don't try and go there.
Oh, and there was a bit of sarcasm in that post...in case you missed it.
(Not that I think nothing should be done...but it was an interesting thought I had this afternoon as I sat at my computer eating Wendy's chicken nuggets, fries and a 44 ounce coke...
I guess there are pros and cons to modern medicine...gentically weak people are living longer and passing on weak genes...genetically strong people are able to get stronger/faster/whatever by using modern medicine???
I don't know...
Pit Row
My faith in humanity has been restored
Rather than penalize those that are already living who are unlucky enough to have deficient genes, lets do this.
Give them free health care.
Then form a CORPORATION (just so we are clear on this, it won't be run by the inefficient and evil government) whose sole purpose is to identify those with 'deficient genes' and 'undesirable genetics (as per Titan) and sterilize those people.
That way, we won't need the evils of a public health care option to take care of those deficient genetic unfortunates.
(Just a note to the knuckle-draggers out there, this IS saracasm)
Larry I have a question: Did you or your wife turn 50 in the past year? When I hit the big 50 my insurance went up almost 50% overnight. Have you contacted them yet and asked what their smokin ?
i buy Insurance so that if God forbid my kid comes down with a serious illness I will not have to use any of your tax money to pay for his treatment.
and by the way fuck you.
But we would be if social darwinists like Titan have their way.
Our strength as a species has ALWAYS been our empathy and our ability and willingness to work as a group for a common goal. That's why we exist at all. If, in the early days of mankind, we would've just said, "Hey, screw him. He's the one who walked out too far and got eaten," our species would've died out long ago.
Teamwork. That's what got us here.
The other thing is that we are living too long which taxes the healthcare system. It used to be that when you retired at 55 you died 5 years later. Now we run out of retirement money and cause healthcare to sky rocket. Remember, most healthcare is used in the later years of life.
I laugh when people blame smokers for causing healthcare to go up. The fact is they die sooner which actually becomes a net gain compared to some granola head fitness freak living to 90 years old.
