I only see bad things about the Mikuni carb, but I have zero complaints as it runs very good, no hesitations or bogging anywhere. But I do want more rpm as I have to shift a lot when racing motocross from it signing off too soon. One thing I like is the low rpm power coming out of corners.

So my question is has anyone had experience with a STIC on a 22 sx model? I only see it being used on exc and xcw’s. Will it help me with what I want along with getting pc exhaust?

Thanks.

You see people complain about the stock carb and don’t want to jet it probably, but will swap carbs and rejet those for some reason. If you want to swap carbs I don’t have any info on that. If you want to rejet the stock carb keep reading.

Here is the jetting thread for the stock carb. For a ‘22 I’d pick up a few extra mains a few steps over 500. KTM did something around 2020 and the bike makes more power then the ‘18 I honed this jetting in on so you’re gonna need a bit more fuel. Between the jetting and adjusting the power valve and a PC pipe/long silencer you’ll get even more power and a better over rev.

I have 18 tc250, with mikuni jetted on dyno by tuner. Runs awesome. Ordered keihin with STIC, could not jet it to perfection myself but adds power and more overrev. Wonder what numbers would be when also jetted perfect.
Put the keihin with STIC now on my 17 TE300, runs cleaner in wide variety than the mikuni...
When you have the mikuni dialed, no need to change to my feeling...

The STIC is a funny thing. They seem to be able to run good even if the jetting is off. When you get it right, they are great. George's old carb mod from the late 80's was sort of the same, but it was a different approach to the same thing.

Might be worth looking at Intelajet or maybe someone has a comparison bw the powerjet and the STIC.
I had a 2017 250sx and looking to get back on a similar bike, and I also found myself shifting a lot.
