What a freaking powerhouse King Maker team that was. 70% of the top 5 in each class are Geico alums including the top 2 in each class. Star is always brought up as the 250 powerhouse but damn that team has put out some talent. What a humungous loss that they are no longer around.

250 MX
1) Jett Lawrence
2) Jo Shimoda
3) Hunter Lawrence
5) RJ Hampshire

450 MX
1) Eli Tomac
2) Chase Sexton
5) Christian Craig

They were a powerhouse but never like this. I can't think of a single team in the history of MX that had as many alumni at the top of both classes. The entire podium in 250 and the top 2 in 450. Holy hell that is some good scouting.

I’d argue they were more of a powerhouse when they actually had bikes on the track but hey

They had to be at their peak around 2013ish. Kevin Windham and recent Geico grads Trey Canard, Justin Barcia and Josh Grant in the 450 class. Tomac, Osborne, Bogle and Hahn in the 250 class.

Did they have both class champions and 70% of the top 5 in both classes?

Not sure why everything has to be a debate, just trying to say it was a helluva program to have the results their former riders did this year.

Not sure how my post can be interpreted as anything other than agreeing with and adding to your point that Geico Honda was a powerhouse team with a great eye for talent

My bad, sounded like you were saying the older ones were better. Funniest thing is I was never a huge Geico Honda fan while in the 80;s and 90's I bled red.

They didn’t have a lot of “misses” when it came to AMs

Not a lot of Jarret Frye's on that list are there.

*Feel like such a dick saying that because that guy may still have it, he just wasn't even close to ready. I hope guys like him find a home in WSX, great series for over the hill gang and reclamation projects.

We never got the full story of why they closed up shop so quickly. Who runs a team as successful as that, but is relying on their long-time sponsor to re-sign at the last second?

I suspect that Honda pulling their money was the real issue. Why did they decide to go in-house?

The story seems as taboo as why Baggett disappeared.

They were a great team for a long time. It's a shame they went out the way they did. A lot of people's last memory will be Jeremy Martin's CRF250 getting pulled on every straightaway. They were a powerhouse for many, many years.

Not sure we'll ever see another Team like this. Starting with one Rider and a Credit Card, to becoming one of the top Teams in both Series for almost 2 decades. I miss that Team.

It was Geico pulling their money from motorsports sponsorship that caused the collapse of the team.
