Question for anybody who has camped at the Budds Creek National before

Edited Date/Time 8/19/2022 5:18pm
I purchased the 4-day camping pass which starts on Thursday (tomorrow) night through Sunday night.

Just wondering if anybody who has ever camped all four nights remembers what time they start letting campers in on Thursday.

I figure I'll just get there early in the morning and be prepared to wait half the day to be let in but if anybody knows about what time they'll open their gates it could save me some time.

I want to get in as early as possible and hopefully get a decent spot.

Stoked for the weekend!

Noon Thursday they open, I got there before they opened one year and waited a couple hours until noon, we were not on the road though, on the property but not through the main entrance

A friend and I are riding supermotos down on Saturday morning. We plan on hammock camping on Saturday night, obviously we need some trees. Anyone know the layout/map of the camping area(s)?

@Luke_Richards Thanks for that info! That will save me some waiting around. I guess I'll spend the morning at walmart making sure I have all the supplies I need.

Oh! Here's another question.. Generators. Can we run them? I've been kinda assuming that we can run them during the day.. I mean there's gonna be race and pit bikes running around all day I can't imagine noise would be a concern. Mine's super quiet so I was just gonna see what happens.

@ktm300xcw2018 Good luck Saturday bro! What number are you? I'll be watching all the racing that happens all weekend so I'll root for you in your moto. [update] Oh.. sorry I just read your reply again and you didn't say you're *racing* supermoto on Saturday.. just riding to the track.. hehe Oh well, I'll cheer you on anyway. It's Budds Creek Weekend!

Generators are fine and frankly required, unless of course it's a Harbor Freight non inverter style. Then it's a loud piece of shit and everyone hates you.

Camping at WW Ranch one year was so hot it burned my generator out I had to run and get another Predator. Was a freaking life saver. My poor dog would have been cooked.

I almost went and bought a predator, got a ryobi which is actually a Honeywell, not to loud. Only thing on it that’s ryobi is the frame and wheels, and I have to take the wheels off so they don’t rattle louder than the engine 😂

Ok well Im all setup at Budds now, got the generator running and got a good spot. I got here at 10am and was probably about #50 in line to enter the facility. They started letting campers in around 12:30ish and I still didn't make it through the gate until about 1:30 but no worries, smooth sailing after that. Got my little campsite together and now enjoying some AC and internet before I head out to explore the place on my mtb.

Surprised my internet is as good as it is. Last time I was here, bout 5 years ago, internet was non-existent.. seems decent now. 👍

Can't wait for some gate drops!

Thursday night and Friday on a mtb at a national is a pretty good way to spend a couple days. I love the calm before the storm.
