Stay strong, and I hope you can focus on the good times you had, not the time that was lost.
I am sure that is what he would wish for.
I had a discussion (recently) with a co-worker(Ruben), looking him eye-to-eye for 45 min. on a slow Friday afternoon. He just came back from a 5 week trip down to his home country Argentina. We discussed what happened and I hear his somber/accent uttering several times, “there are no words”. He’s 63.
His son, 42, had drug issues throughout his adulthood, but finally got out ahead of it the last 4-5 years. A 30-month in-patient program being the catalyst.
He got an infection on his leg/foot area and did not seek medical attention. As told to me by Ruben*. Weeks past as he was terrified of going to the Dr. and the whole covid situation that made going to the Dr. even more challenging. He finally went, but it was too late.
Ruben talked to his son (after weeks of his son enduring the infection) on a Saturday and convinced his son to go to the hospital. And his son was able to get to the hospital that same day, but it was too late. His son was gone Monday 2 1/2 days later.
I added an asterisk above because it just reminded me, I was on a zoom call with another co-worker and we were bummed about Ruben’s situation, except we heard entirely different stories. I heard face-to-face what I described above. My zoom call co-worker heard 2nd hand Ruben’s son died in a car accident.
I have not and will not pursue any clarification.
There are no words KennyT. I can’t imagine. Prayers sent and I will engage a confidante to have his prayer group (hundreds of them) extend prayers to you, your son, and your family today.

Cam and I were friends for a brief time in our early to mid 20s when I lived in San Diego. We had some mutual friends and we went riding several times. I think this was around the time Cam worked at Works Connection (?) or a similar company. We hung out and did all the dumb stuff that dudes in their 20s do. I realizing back then that he had a problem and I think what was so gut wrenching was that Cam was such a good dude. You could tell that he really had an issue that just had a total control over him.
I actually tried reaching out to you through the DM here several years back, to ask if you were Cam's dad and if so how was he doing. He crossed my mind often over the years. I saw Dayna's FB post and my stomach sank. So sorry for your family's loss, hopefully there is some solace that Cam left a positive mark on people like me that crossed his path, no mater how brief it was.

Yeah it’s been a rough 20 years or so. Ever since he got hooked on Oxys after he accident it had been a struggle for him. I think what made it hard for us to understand is he aaa such a kind soul. The last few months of his life he spent more time with his family than anywhere else.
Playing with Dayna’s kids - 13,10, 5. He’d play with them for hours and was always the one sitting at the table with coloring books or puzzles. He spent a LOT of time with
me. Riding BMX, dirt bike races, RC car racing, slot car racing, go carts etc .
He was always trying to find ways to help me never grow up and he helped keep me riding to today at 62 years old.
The kid was smart as hell too. He worked with me on remodels off n on for years and he was a better carpenter than myself. Anytime I had a really difficult project I could ask Cam to help figure it out and he’d be the one to tackle it. He wrenched for an amateur racer for a few years and was able to travel the country with him. Anyway those were the good times. Unfortunately the bad times became more n more frequent over the years and getting the call that he was gone was something we all knew would come at some point. We just weren’t expecting it last week. He really was as healthy/happy as we have seen him n years. He spent
Saturday with me until around 1pm and then he left to go to a little cousins birthday party with Dayna n her in-laws. He has a wonderful day bowling and then at dinner. Then the craving kicked in halfway through dinner and he never made it out of the restroom. My
Son n law and his brother tried to resuscitate him before the paramedics arrived but he was gone. They gave him 2 shots of narcon but it didn’t bring him back. My poor daughter had to see her brother that she loves so much laying on a bathroom floor, that’s he’s last vision of him. Cam and Dayna never fought/Argued, even as little kids. He protected her. Our youngest son Casey was 13 yrs younger than Cam and he is really torn up. The reason I’m going into detail is it is therapeutic. But it’s also meant to let others know that drugs will eventually take you in this world of Fentanyl. He probably died instantly which is somewhat of a blessing. He was also going to church every Sunday for the last few months with his mom so I do feel good about that.
I just want to thank you all for your kind thoughts, it really means a lot to me and it offers me great comfort.
Thanks to having me daughters family here for a few months while they are in between houses.
Today I received a call from the detective on his case and I needed to explain Cams prior 24 hours of his life, not the easiest thing to do but I got through it. My daughter brought his phone home and we went through it. I tracked down the guy who sold him the fentanyl that afternoon,
Had my 9mm in the truck and I went to his house and sat out front and cried for a bit before I gathered my senses and went back home. I realize nobody was forcing Cam to do this, he was the one seeking out the dealers. It was a brief bout with anger but that has passed,
Which I am thankful for. I so appreciate you checking in with me, I am doing okay. I have a lot of support around me and so does his entire family 👍
Thank you for the update on Cam's life in the more recent years. The fact that he had been such a great Uncle to Dayna's kids was not a surprise at all, Cam was just a big kid himself really. It's funny how on this board, if you've been here long enough you feel like you "know" certain people ...and ever since I put two and two together all those years ago that you were Cam's dad (I figured the T is for your last name) I would take notice of your posts and you just seem like a cool and level headed guy, especially here on the non-motor stuff. If you ever want to get together and ride, talk stories about Cam or whatever, just let me know. I'm a few hours north of SD and I have a toddler, so time isn't always a luxury I have but I'm sure we can figure something out.
Hoping you and the rest of the family are coping as well as one could be during this. My heart aches for Dayna being there for that.
