Yzf450 Gearbox Issues...

Have a 2020 YZF450. about a year ago second gear went (edges had rounded over). So I changed 2nd, 4th and the selector.

Riding today the same issue is starting to happen in third, I want to order the parts in advance of stripping the engine this time as there around a 5 - 10 day lead time for them in the UK.

I assume I need 3rd gear cog, 5th gear cog. But is there anyway to tell what selector fork I need with out stripping it?

Dang, so sorry to hear this.

I don't have an answer for you on the gears/fork(s), but I am curious how many hours were you at when your initial gear problems presented themselves + how many hours on the second time around?

I've got a 2020 YZ450F, but I've only managed to put 15 hours on it in 2 years. Wondering when I'll see the same issues.

First time happened at around 38 hours if I remember correctly. This time is around 100 hours.

It was coming apart for a full rebuild this month anyway so not the end of the world, but still annoying for them to keep failing.

Hopefully you have better luck with yours 🤞

While it’s apart, maybe consider getting the tranny iso and/or cryo treated.
