Didn't really understand the decision to pull Colt out of the East, where he would run #1 and defend his title to begin with. We're told it was a last minute decision and it would be fair to assume Colt was mentally prepared to race the East at a much later date so not as ready as he would ideally be. These guys already knew how fast Craig was going so its not like they were in dire straits, plus Thrasher won races last year. Obviously we all know how it turned out, now they're down 2 of their A guys. The only way this makes sense to me is if their sponsors demanded it and they had no choice.

Colt and the team decided he would race West Coast the first week of November and that Justin Cooper would race East coast. It was not last minute and had nothing to do with Cooper's injury.

I did not hear the decision presented that way in what I read so I stand corrected

Seemed a bit to me like teams were playing their usual game of East/West chicken. The result was a lot of riders just switching coasts at the same time.

Many 2021 East guys are now 2022 West (Craig, Shimoda, Mosiman, Nichols and even Jett L if he hadn't gotten hurt) and 2021 West are now 2022 East.
