AURORA, Ill. (July 8, 2009) – Feld Motor Sports℠ announced today GEICO Powersport’s Honda’s Kevin Windham, of Centerville, Miss., will compete at this year’s Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open inside Las Vegas’ MGM Grand garden Arena October 9-11.
Windham has enjoyed success at the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open in the past having finished as high as second place in both 2000 and 2005. At his five Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open appearances, he’s only finished outside the top three once (’06: 3rd; ’05: 2nd; ’01: 3rd; ’00: 2nd; ’99: 7th). At his last Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open in 2006, he used his 3-4 finishes for third overall.
In 1994 Windham began his professional career and earned the Western Regional AMA Supercross Lites class championship in 1996, winning six races on the season. In AMA Supercross competition, Windham has finished in the runner-up position three times, ’08, ’04 and ’03.
“The U.S. Open is a fun weekend for the riders and fans,” said Windham. “The MGM Grand Garden Arena provides a great atmosphere for a race. It’s like you come to a party and a race breaks out. This fall is going to be exciting because I will race the US Open the first part of October and my wife, Dottie, and I are expecting our fourth child at the end of the month.”
Windham joins defending AMA Supercross class champion James Stewart, who recently announced he will compete at this year’s Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open, on the starting gate.
Tickets for the 2009 Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open are available at Ticketmaster locations, Carter Powersports (located at 6275 South Decatur Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89118) the MGM Grand Garden Arena box office, www.ussx.com or by phone at (800) 745-3000.

But he finished ahead of RC!
Was the only rider to beat RC in a moto in 05'.
Finished 2nd to RC in 06' and 05'
So what's your point?
Reed won moto 1, Southwick 2005, so KW was not the only nonRC moto winner
2006 was a lucky 2nd for KW. Reed was 40 points up on #14 before injury
2007 is a bit more relevant to 2009
Crashes are rarely just "bad luck"
my point is, it seems, when looking at the stats, KW would be working really hard to get wins in 2009. Short could beat him in 2007, and Short has no wins in 2009. Is KW getting faster? Its speculation from looking at stats.
Most bench racing is speculation isn't it? I thought that was a given.
Lucky in 06'...can't be lucky...if crashes are rarely just bad luck, so are injuries. Haha!
07' he knew he was on the outs and def. had no motivation.
Anyway...when KW wants to win...he can. Of course, I'm biased towards KW though.
KW 09 SX? Ehh.. that's a year to forget. (yes I know it's still a top 5 and nothing to sneeze at)
You got me on the luck/crash/injury deal... I'll eat that one
Also, I meant to say that I was speculating based on the stats.... poorly written post by me. Too many here state their guesses as fact. I don't want to post like that crowd.
Let's hope whenever he races next, we see an aggressive KW.
