Lowering linkages affecting shock

I just bought a 250 sxf. I was told the bike has a lowering linkage (was given stock linkage, and can see the orange fastway linkage on there).

My question is, do lowering linkages affect overall shock travel? I’ll be honest, the bike did not feel any lower than my 450 was. I’m just wondering if it’s worth having it swapped back to stock or leave it.

In my understanding it pulls the shock at a different angle, it does more with the geometry of the shock motion rather than overall travel, it does lower seat height though.

It doesn’t affect shock travel appreciably. It will make initial shock movement stiffer. Try the stock link and see if you like it more. You will have to play with the clickers to get it dialed in.
