Just as a topic of discussion.....

I can't really think of any other form of racing that pays less attention to the cooeficiency of drag whether it be swimmers doing everything possible to minimize drag through water to the unbelievable aerodynamics in play with modern Formula 1 cars.

Do you think aerodynamics will ever become anything more than an afterthought in Motocross in the future?

Perhaps anything that would provide a measurable increase in performance would make the bike way too susceptible to cross winds or perhaps the speeds are simply too slow & the power on tap so much more than capable to overcome any drag etc. that it will never be worth the time and effort to give it much thought.

On the other hand, is there 3%..... 4%.....or perhaps even more performance being left on the table especially at the higher speeds in outdoor MX that designers might consider directing airflow to the radiators in a more aerodymically efficient method that maybe pays even bigger dividends with engine cooling?

As a side note I've often wondered how much more drag the Blue Buffalo, Slater Skins bikes from 2014 or 15 had over a normal bike in a wind tunnel.

Before 450s took over, riders' speed on the track was too low for wind resistance to make much difference. Motocross is all about acceleration. Crosswinds while jumping are a bigger problem.

You nailed it with two points:
1) The speeds are too slow to make as big a difference as you think, and are also offset by crosswind dangers;
2) The time would be better spent trying to redirect air to the radiators for cooling.

I remember reading somewhere a long time ago, when they were still developing full bodywork for roadracing, that one team was losing a few MPH due to excessive heat. They ripped the lowers off their bike, essentially making it a giant airfoil, but the resulting increase in power thanks to the extra cooling enabled them to gain top speed.

Riding gear has become more "aero" - Not sure if that is on purpose or unintended consequence of fashion ?

On purpose, top riders will have theirs tailored for a tighter fit.

The closest thing to aero would be the Dakar bikes.

In almost all other motorsports, the aero package has a greater efficiency as the car/bike is following the tarmac and has a fairly constant angle in relation to the track. In MX, with cornering angles and jumping, any minute advantage could turn into a major disadvantage as the bike in flight would not fly/jump the same way and could cause more accidents.

I thought I read something one time that there was a rule related aerodynamic number plates ? Back when number plates went from big and flat to curved like they are now ?
