Hangtown Pro Motocross Race.

Looks like Northern Cali on fire. If the fire gets much worst, will Hangtown happen? Will AMA cancel the race and make Pala (Fox Raceway) the last round? Or Will they race Pala back to back, September 4th and the 11th?

hard to say if theyll cancel it. Hangtown is just outside sacramento so its no where near the fires but smoke could present a problem if it settles in the valley. this last weekend was bad enough public outdoor sites such as pools were closed.

but this is a fluid situation, fires could take off if things like wind pick up or if it stays calm crews could get a little handle on them

I'm 5 minutes from the track. It depends on the wind, some days are clear but others the entire sky is cloudy and a blood orange color. My fiance works at Red Hawk casino 15 minutes up the road closer to the fires and they shut down the casino for a few days from the smoke but it's back open right now.

All about the wind. It is day to day right now,

Looking good that Hangtown may very well dodge a bullet with the different race date this year . . . forecast looks as good as you could pray for. Fires will still be raging in the mountains, but SSW winds should keep heavy smoke going east away from the track.

I'll not be at the track this year, but it ought to be a great day for moto if they truck in enough water and use it well.

I heard a little rumor that they have NO water, as in well(s) are dry. Camping/track, none. Can anyone confirm?

My source says water system will be fine. It’s September in Folsom. Everything is dry anyway and more than ever this year. That’s been the track prep this year too. Washougal was the driest I’ve seen several times this year and at nationals too. Problem is that makes the track a fast freeway with little passing.
